The list author says: "Don’t buy into the belief that the juvenile literature section is just for kids. One of the best classes I took in graduate school was a course called “Children’s Literature.” The professor’s goal was to open our eyes as teachers to the depth of literature available for children. I found that many of the books on our reading list had messages at different levels. As an adult, I found one message while my students found different messages. If you are an avid reader, many of these books will be quick, easy reads. However, their message will leave a lasting imprint."
