If you've met Lenny Solomon, you'll know that he has an incredible sense of humor and love of life. Both come through clearly on this very nice piece of work, wisely titled "not life threatening" (because it isn't!). The sound is reminiscent of Harry Chapin, Bob Dylan, and Tom Petty (unplugged) - very 'folksy' with thoughtful, poetic lyrics. The band sounds fresh and 'live', and although I've never seen them perform, based on this disc I would guess that they fit comfortably in Boston/Cambridge theaters/bars/coffee houses frequented by well known Rounder Records artists. The tunes and arrangements are
instantly engaging and varied enough to keep your level of interest high. This one is a keeper!

The thing that impressed me about this CD is that, not only are the tunes so varied, but the ideas expressed in the lyrics are alternately profound, humorous, ironic, joyful, sad, and are always poetic and prolific. The more I listen to the "songs of Solomon", the more they grow on me. I think Solomon is brilliant.

This album is unique in that the lyrics are very clever, stimulating, genuine and thought-provoking.

The Harmonica adds a zesty/bluesy complimentary flavor and the voice harmony is superb.

My favorite "Your Flight Has Just Been Cancelled" denotes a typical airport situation, which we have all experienced at one point in time.

"Fishin" makes you feel carefree. The drummer does a good job on this one, using a special beat which almost sounds like frogs jumping on and off Lilly Pads, while the fisherman is casting his line!!
