From Library Journal
...Russell's childhood [...] was [...] traumatic and unhappy, and in this frank and funny autobiography she presents an honest self-evaluative account of her life. Although lacking the voice for serious singing, Russell turned her talent and musical interest into a career of comic concerts in which she parodied all aspects of classical music: art songs, Gilbert and Sullivan, and especially Wagner's Ring. Russell's wit enlivens an otherwise unexceptional book, which will appeal primarily to her fans. Eric W. Johnson, Univ. of New Haven Lib., West Haven, Ct.
