Underappreciated, October 7, 2004
This review is from: Not in My Back Yard: The Handbook (Paperback)
Written in plain English and chock full of useful advice, this book is still one of the best of its kind available. Jane Anne Morris writes mostly from personal experience, but also combines it with solid "academic" insights gleaned from her studies and insights as an anthropologist.
As Morris states in the introduction of this book, the NIMBY phenomenon is profoundly irritating to people accustomed to planning other people's lives. This book is an important guide that every citizen ought to have in their citizen's toolkit, and puts you on a more equal footing with the well paid consultants working for city hall and the developers in their rolodexes.
