4.0 out of 5 stars Made my mom smile
I gave this to my mom, she laughed and was able to identify with the book. I read it too and enjoyed it. I think it depends on where you are in your treatment. If you need to laugh and are around others who won't or don't know how too, then this is a refreshing book. Sometimes when familes are dealing with this disease, they are afraid to laugh. And to see my mom...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it.
I read this book in about 15 minutes. While there were some humorous illustrations it was not a worthwhile read. I bought this book hoping it would help me through my situation, maybe my expectations were too high.

And to see my mom smile, during a time when she knew what the outcome was, well it made all the difference in the world. It is a short book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very funny, yet frank depiction of hair loss, October 9, 1999
By
Ann Meyer (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews
Ms. Clifford captures the humor of the highly emotional experience of being treated for cancer. She focuses mostly on hair loss (hence the title), but also on radiation and chemo. Laughter is great medicine, so I suggest you add this book to the treatment regimine of any woman going through cancer treatment.

My wife has brain cancer and asked that I find a couple of books for her written by survivors of any type of cancer. Though I purchased several for her, this one seemed to be able to make her laugh - truly laugh - for the first time in 6 months.

My wife is undergoing chemo for Hodgkin's Disease. Although the book focuses on breast cancer, she can still relate to much of the content.
This was a light hearted and well received Christmas gift. Recommened for cancer sufferers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Been there..., February 27, 2009

I was given this book several years ago while I was going through stage 1 breast cancer treatments. This was the second time I'd lost my hair, the first time was with Stage 4 ovarian cancer.
I related so much to this book... it made me laugh out loud... not just smile... I had the same feelings the writer had. I loved it and recommended it to several friends. It just depends on your outlook, when faced with such a dire diagnosis one must have faith and a sense of humor to get through it.

4.0 out of 5 stars This book was great and I would share it with others!, September 25, 1999
By A Customer
This book was in my car for several weeks after someone gave it to me before I picked it up. When I finally did sit down to read it, I couldn't put it down. I could relate to just about every page in it. I felt, here was someone else who had experienced all that I had, but like me, wanted to find the silver-linings, not just all the pain of experiencing cancer. Once I became comfortable with me, I tossed my wigs and hats and made the world deal with me as I am. It was a good feeling to be able to laugh about all that I have experienced. Although I read it late in my treatment, it was good therapy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Now...I'm Having a No Hair Day, December 26, 1999

Disappointed. I found more laughter in my own personal experience with cancer treatment and hair loss than I found in these pages. I laughed out loud once. I expected more.

In contrast I found another book: No More Bad Hair Days to be very wise AND very funny. Just the ticket!
