Biography

My Chemical Romance formed in suburban New Jersey in 2001 out of a mutual love of horror movies, music and punk philosophies. The group’s first song was “Skylines and Turnstiles,” which was penned after experiencing the devastation of 9/11. The band recorded I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, which was released on in 2003.

The band entered the studio in February of 2004 with… Read more in Amazon's My Chemical Romance Store

Editorial Reviews

It’s Emo with a dark heart and it kicks like a rabid mule. That’s right the brand new single from the awesome My Chemical Romance has arrived and in typically brilliant fashion it proclaims: ‘I’m Not Okay (I Promise)’. Taken from their sophomore effort ‘Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge’ the new single proves that My Chemical Romance have what it takes to become one of the biggest new rock bands in the world. The title track is b/w 'Bury Me In Black' (Demo Version) & 'You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison' (Live). Please not you will need an All Code DVD player To View. Reprise Records. 2004.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm Okay With This Single (I Promise), February 3, 2006
This great single CD was taken from my all time favorite album "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge", released in June of 2004. Anyway, this single CD is awesome and I'll give all three tracks a review:

I'm Not Okay (I Promise)- This song is insane. I remember watching MTV2 as a 13 year old in summer 2004 and this video coming on and I was amazed! This is the first of now three singles from 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge' and is ultimately the most popular of the three. I love this song, and I probably always will. If you've gone through a recent break up or like someone alot this will appeal to you as it did me.

You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison (Live)- Awesome! If I had the insanely hard decision of picking a favorite song on 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge', this would be somewhere in the top 3. Cap some insane guitars, with quite possibly the best intro ever, and you've got an awesome song. You can also hear Bert McCracken from The Used scream with Gerard on this song (on the original version).

I'm Not Okay (I Promise) [Live At MTV2's $2 Bill]- Another insane song (The Amazon description is wrong, it's $2 Bill not $3 bill; I know I watched this back in March of 2005)! This is quite possibly the best live band I've ever heard, because they get the crowd with so much energy, and their songs sound close to what they do on the original record. Though I do prefer the original version, this version is great as well.

Like I said, this single CD is great. If you like this, definitely pick up 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge', if you haven't already. Also, on March 21, My Chemical Romance comes out with 'Life On The Murder Scene', which is a documentary/Live CD, including live versions of "I'm Not Okay (I Promise), "Thank You For The Venom", and "Helena", each with a 'making-of' of each. THEN, if you like those two, MCR is scheduled to release a third studio album at some point of this year. So, as a footnote I'll say 'Three Cheers For The Best Band Ever!'!

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE IT!!, May 24, 2006
OMG! I bought this song off iTunes and almost all of the other My Chemical Romance songs ever and they all rock! I love MCR! You should definitely buy this song. I also recommend Panic at the Disco, Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan, the Used, Switchfoot, Foo Fighters, the Veronicas, and Greeen Day 'cause they all rock!
