“Not the Same Old Spaghetti Sauce” offers 10 variants on the delicious theme of tomatoes with pasta. Tomatoes are the new world’s greatest culinary gift to the old world. Tomato sauces for pasta are what Italy sent us in return. Diane Darrow and Tom Maresca have always thought that was a very good deal, and here present 10 of their favorites, including such gems as Ziti with Fennel-Tomato Sauce, Tubetti with Potatoes, and Sicilian Baked Maccheroni. Making the book all the more enjoyable are detailed — and entertaining — headnotes, lively discussions of the principal ingredients in the recipes, and suggestions for wines to complement each dish.
What a pleasant surprise! Astonishingly accurate information about the world's favorite food, all in a delightfully well written, informative e-book. Old world recipes and flavors in a modern package. The three sauces we have tried so far were all delicious and easy to prepare. We especially like the knowledge the authors impart about the ingredients and the wines that add so much to the meals enjoyment. Tom and Diane have an extensive understanding respectively, of italian wines and food and it is delivered to us in a wonderfully clear and enjoyable way. Bravissimi!
This e-book is a delight -- charmingly written, with much useful information. The recipes are clear and are accessible to novices, while still interesting to more experienced cooks. Plus they taste good! The authors other cookbooks are highly recommended as well.
This is a pleasure. The writing is clear and down to earth. Reasons are given why a particular wine or cheese or pasta goes with a particular sauce, but then quite satisfactory substitutions are offered with no sense of condescension. The section on basic ingredients is terrific. And the recipes work!
LOVE the new e-cookbook! Never thought I'd use my Kindle for anything other than mysteries to read on the subway...even the photos look great and the recipes are simple to follow. With a sometime vegetarian in the family, the vegetable garden sauce will become a seasonal favorite for our dinner table. Thanks for this timely and tasty collection.
And not the same old recipe book, too! Very interesting: reflects expertise, passion and true knowledge of Italy. The stories are fun, the recipes are delicious, easy to repeat...and you can tell that the suggested wine matchings are based on a lifetime experience of sampling food and wine directly in Italy. I've always thought that during the "google age", recipe books are a waste of money...well this e-book is the exception that has made me chanche my mind! Complimenti Diane and Tom, Marina
