Praise for Vicki Hinze

“Hinze has written amasterful, complicated tale of suspense that gains momentum with each turn of a page. Her writing flows surely, moving fromone character to the next, one setting to another, with readers keeping the swift pace.”
—Publisher’sWeekly

“[Hinze] keeps the pace brisk and the tension high. Don’t start reading too late at night—you may see 2:00 a.m.”
—Crosswalk.com

“As expected, Deadly Ties filled my need for encouragement, and though it explored some rather disturbing issues, its consistent reminder of God’s omnipotence was a welcomed comfort.”
—TheChristianManifesto.com

“Fans of Christian suspense will enjoy Hinze’s latest thriller.”
—Library Journal

“Excellent characterization and a compelling plot draw the reader in and never let go. Perhaps most importantly, the novel addresses the universal question of the purpose of pain and the importance of faith when all hope seems lost. Evil is unapologetically painted black and bold, making the redemptive power of Christ seem all that much more powerful. DeadlyTies is absolutely magnificent.”
—FictionAddict.com

“I literally couldn’t put down Forget Me Not by Vicki Hinze. The suspense kept me flipping pages until long after midnight, and I loved the plot twists. Highly recommended!”
—COLLEEN COBLE, author of The Lightkeeper’s Bride and the Rock Harbor series

Forget Me Not took off like a bullet from a shotgun and gripped me all the way to the exciting end. With tight plotting, twists and turns, a sweet romance, and lots of action, I’ll be making room on my romantic suspense shelf for more
books from Vicki Hinze!”

Praise for Not This Time

"Tense, breathless, multi-layered - and highly recommended."--Lee Child

“Vicki Hinze’s new thriller, Not This Time, hones suspense to a razored edge. Riveting, relentless, and fraught with betrayals, here is a novel that cuts both to the bone and to the heart. Not This Time should be retitled Not to be Missed.”
—JAMES ROLLINS, New York Times best-selling author of The Devil Colony

“In Not This Time, Vicki Hinze has created a tense, suspenseful story, peopled with vivid characters and set against a backdrop of deadly danger. I can always count on Vicki for an absorbing story I’ll remember long after I’ve closed the
book, and Not This Time was no exception. Do yourself a favor and pick this book as your next read.”

“Vicki Hinze has created a ‘keeper’! Not This Time is engrossing, entertaining, filled with excellently drawn and very real people, and a story that keeps you turning the pages!”
—HEATHER GRAHAM, New York Times best-selling author

“Hinze paints her tale on a broad canvas, her writing expertly controlled, rich in imagination, deep in characterization. It’s a race against time and shadowy instincts, the narrative loud with surprises, the premise all-too-believable.”

5.0 out of 5 stars Get It, Get It, Get It NOW!!! March 21, 2012
Format:Paperback
In February of last year, I reviewed a fiction work by an author I had never read before. Deadly Ties by Vicki Hinze is book two in her Crossroads Crisis Center series. You can read that review by going HERE. As you can tell from that review, I was a Hinze fan immediately! I absolutely could not wait for book three to be available. I was going to purchase it or review it for WaterBrook Multnomah. One way or the other, I was going to get my hands on this book!

Not This Time by Vicki Hinze, the third book in the Crossroads Crisis Center series, DID NOT disappoint!

Synopsis of the book:
Small town scandal. International terrorist attack. Who among them is the traitor?
Sara and Beth have built a multi-million dollar business together, but their once solid friendship is now strained. Beth is leery of Sara's husband, and when he is kidnapped, authorities consider Beth their prime suspect.
Then, their small town of Seagrove Village is rocked by an act of terrorism, and Beth doesn't know who to trust. Someone she knows is linked to the attack, but who? Is there a connection to Crossroads Crisis Center? In the midst of the confusion and fear, Beth finds herself attracted to a man from her past. She knows she shouldn't fall in love with him, but she can't resist or even explain their bond. As her world unravels around her, she wonders, is it possible to be beyond redemption?

While Not This Time can be read as a stand alone novel (because Hinze does such a good job of interjecting certain details so that the stand alone reader is not completely lost) you will fall in love with the characters and want to read the stories in their entirety. From page one of Not This Time, I said to myself, "Hang on girl, this is gonna be a good one!" Hinze is a master at weaving a story full of intrigue, faith, love, redemption and plain ole "sit on the edge of your recliner" suspense.

You can learn more about Ms Hinze by visiting her website found at vickihinze.com. I think you'll appreciate her Mission Statement from her website:

"We all have challenges that we doubt we can make it through; where we can't see light at the end of the tunnel, we're stuck in the darkness, groping for a door, a way out. We ask ourselves, Is healing possible? What we often don't see is that if we hold on, we will get through our troubles. And we rarely see (until we experience it) that our battles leave scars change us. We're no longer the person we were. We're the person we've become. Wiser. Stronger. More confident and sure of ourselves because we endured and survived. These are the stories I most love to write. Stories about the real us, without the veneer and party faces. Stories in which we recognize ourselves and bits of our lives. Stories that are destined to thrill, fated to heal!"
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" -Hebrews 11:1, KJV

5.0 out of 5 stars Hinze's Timing was Exhilerating August 8, 2012
Format:Paperback
Vicki Hinze's "Not This Time" moved quickly, especially in the first chapter when the multitude of characters were only briefly introduced. She quickly showed that this tight-knit southern community had already experienced many dangerous situations at the hand of terrorists and was about to be thrown into the turmoil yet again. Most readers may not have personal experience with evils similar to that of the treacherous group, NINA, but once the concept of a local terrorist cell can be taken as fact, the rest of the story effortlessly unfolds.

The characters show their thoughts throughout the text and yet mystery is laced throughout the book and the final details only become clear in the final pages. I was kept intrigued the entire time and I now want to go back and look to see if I can pick up any hints to solve the mystery myself for Sara, Beth, and their beloved community. One of the reasons it would be easy to read the book again is due to Hinze not hand feeding details to her readers. For example, the Crossroads Crisis Center was alliterated to, but not clearly explained... and that's when I realized I was starting at the third book of a series. In that light, I appreciated that Hinze does not become excessively repetitive in her writing. I can still revert to the first two books and have many surprises awaiting me. This is a rarity in writing and I appreciate that opportunity.

I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.

4.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful, suspenseful, redemption story July 16, 2012
Format:Paperback
When I chose this book to review, I didn't realize that it was the third in the trilogy. My rule about series books has been established. However, unlike the last book I reviewed out of series order, this one gave me enough information to keep me reading.

The first few pages of this book were a little confusing. As I said, it's the third book in a trilogy, so there were a lot of characters introduced up front (especially since it started out with a wedding). But I recovered quickly, and most of the characters were introduced in much smaller numbers after that. So my initial confusion didn't keep me from reading further along. And once I got into it, I figured out who everyone was.

This book kept me guessing most of the way through. There were a few things that I figured out before the characters did (which can be good or bad), but not a lot of them, and not usually very long before they did. So as a thriller it did a good job. I also really loved the God story within the novel. There were so many characters that had to learn lessons about God. One of the biggest lessons that applied to several characters was about redemption. No matter what we've done, or how long we've done it, God can still redeem us and change our direction.

I really enjoyed this book, and I'm thinking about looking for the first two in the series, so that I can see how some of the relationships in the book got their start.

Disclosure: I received a free ebook of this title from WaterBrook Multnomah as part of their Blogging For Books program. My opinions are my own and I did not receive any other compensation for this review.
