I love the Marilyn Straight leg as it is more slimming and snug fitting. (If you are used to wearing Sarah, these fit much snugger and hug the thighs - more modern look) The seaside wash is lovely - I believe it is called "denim cashmere" as it is 2% spandex and 98% cotton so it is softer and thicker than the traditional 4% spandex NYDJ. It also doesn't pucker like the 4% spandex does after numerous washes. If they fit perfectly, air dry. If you need them tighter, put in a dryer on low heat. I wear size 14 in Marilyn and size 12 in Sarah Bootcut due to the fact Marilyn is snugger fitting.

I have to say these are my favorite jeans. It was fortunate to be able to get a pair at a reduced price on Amazon.

I think it depends on the size you buy. Nordstrom sales people recommend buying one size below your "regular" size. I have found that the NYDJ make my legs and rear end look really good. I sometimes feel like they don't hold in my stomach like other jeans do, however, and in fact, make my fairly flat stomach stick out more than I would like. Not sure what that's all about.

I love the cut of these jeans and the quality is good. A bit pricey but they are worth it. I like the way they sit on the waist. Only problem is the sizing. I ordered an 8 and they are too big especially around the waist. I hoped they would shrink in a hot dryer but as yet they haven't. I wish I had returned them for a smaller size. I'm now going to order the 6.

This was my first pair of NYDJ and they were not good. They were definitely mom jeans. I need to actually try other styles on in a store.
