"Desperate Housewives meets Thelma and Louise Plus One in NOT YOUR EVERYDAY HOUSEWIFE. The question is, will the characters end in a pouf of quirky chaos like the ladies of Wisteria Lane or end up driving off an emotional cliff like the famous movie heroines?"
Kris Jones, Reviewer- Romance Junkies

"Not Your Everyday Housewife is not your ordinary romance."
Suzie Housley, Midwest Book Review

From the Author

I wrote Not Your Everyday Housewife from the trenches. If you've been there, you'll know what I'm talking about....does the word teenager make you shudder? My husband and I blended our families, his two, my three. At one point, we had four teenagers in the house. Four of them were girls. Can you say estrogen? There were a few years with three in college at the same time. My husband could give lessons on filling out FAFSA forms. With the blended family, came the exes. Some play nice, some are like my ex-husband. Ahem. Enough said.

Mix in the visit from my mother where she tripped over her suitcase and fell into the door--the night before she was heading to California to stay with my brothers. I drove her to the ER at 3:00 a.m. where the doctor loaded her up with pain meds and said she'd broken her humerus. She spent the next month sleeping on the recliner in our living room with me on the couch. Two months later, after several trips to the physical therapist, my oldest brother flew in to escort her to California. Suitcases are now prohibited in her room.

The night my mother fell into the door was also the night my middle daughter suffered a high fever and night sweats which resulted in a doctor visit the next morning, a pneumonia diagnosis and admission to the hospital. I spent the next four days between my mother in her recliner and my sixteen year old in a hospital bed. Despite my lack of sleep and horrible stress, I did not once suffer the migraines which plague me when I sleep too little and stress too much. God was indeed watching over me.

Somewhere along the way, I wondered if I could disappear for a little while. Maybe come back in a day? Two? Even after dinner? I'd even fix dinner first. That's when I got the idea for NOT YOUR EVERYDAY HOUSEWIFE. Life happens. I didn't run away, instead I ran into the book and wrote it for every woman who will read it and think of her own stories.

By the way, the kids are grown, four out of college, self-supporting, and truly a pleasure. The last one is slowly making her way through college. She's still a work in progress...maybe to get me all geared up in case I need to write a sequel! As for my mom, she still visits, and I enjoy a few weeks of great cooking, baking, and reminiscing! And my only job is to keep her upright...

More About the Author

Mary Campisi writes emotion-packed books about second chances. Whether contemporary romances, women's fiction, or Regency historicals, her books all center on belief in the beauty of that second chance. Her small town romances center around family life, friendship, and forgiveness as they explore the issues of today's contemporary women.

Mary should have known she'd become a writer when at age thirteen she began changing the ending to all the books she read. It took several years and a number of jobs, including registered nurse, receptionist in a swanky hair salon, accounts payable clerk, and practice manager in an OB/GYN office, for her to rediscover writing. Enter a mouse-less computer, a floppy disk, and a dream large enough to fill a zip drive. The rest of the story lives on in every book she writes.

When she's not working on her craft or following the lives of five young adult children, Mary's digging in the dirt with her flowers and herbs, cooking, reading, walking her rescue lab mix, Cooper, or, on the perfect day, riding off into the sunset with her very own hero/husband on his Harley Ultra Limited.

Life has a way to not turn out as you anticipated it. Three women embark on a journey to escape their own lives. Will their escape be enough to deal with life's hardships?

Cyn Cintar feels as though her family takes her for granted. She is battling feelings of being a middle aged woman. She finds her restless spirit wants to break free of her routine lifestyle.

Money has never been an object for Derry Rohan; she has lived a life to the fullest. When she learned that she was unable to conceive a child, her and her husband Alec adopts a boy named Charlie. When Derry learns that Alec is Charlie's father she feels betrayed; she questions how she will ever be able to trust him again.

Shea Donovan is a nurse who is the primary bread winner of her family. Her kids are grown and are away at college. Her husband's real estate career is almost nonexistence. To complicate matters Shea finds out that she is pregnant.

Cyn, Derry, and Shea know they need a break away from their hectic lives. They decide to take a month long vacation together to rejuvenate their spirit. Will the vacation provide enough rest and relaxation they all need to be able to go back to their own lives and deal with their own problems?

Mary Campisi has written an award winning novel in Not Your Everyday Housewife. From page one you gain an immediate attraction to all of her delightful characters. What makes this book so special is how easy it is for a person to relate to the characters problems. Not Your Everyday Housewife is not your ordinary romance. This book presents three strong plots that are all tied together by a close friendship. It shows how a true friendship has the ability to weathers even the toughest storm.

Not Your Everyday Housewife is a story that tells of three forty-something women and their lives. They embark on a month long vacation from their families to rediscover themselves. They end up staying with a quirky lady who would become a very good friend and mentor to them all. They do discover themselves, and of course, the story has a happy ending. Each of the characters had wonderful development, with none being outshone by any other. They each faced difficulties that all women are familiar with, and each found her own solution. I found it very refreshing that the female and male characters were treated as equals, there were no stereotypical bodice-ripping perfectly built specimens who came in and saved the day. I would definitely recommend this book and this author. I look forward to seeing more from her!

This was an enjoyable book to read. A romance novel that was an easy read with twists and turns that were somewhat believeable. A grown up fairy tale that wasn't out of this world.

I must say that I truly enjoyed this book. I read the negative reviews, but I decided to give it a try anyway. I simply do not agree with the negative reviews. I found the characters and story all compelling. I finished this in less than 24 hours...that's how hooked it had me. I had to find out what would happen next.

Characterization is good, but the book is filled with a lot of cliches. The interactions between the characters can be annoying at times. I couldn't really bring myself to care how everything turned out (which was, predictably).

I was bored with this book almost from the beginning and soon decided it would be a huge waste of my time to read it. The characters were flat and uninteresting. First was Cynthia's pity-party because she had to spend her 44th birthday alone - while she agonizes about some "secret" that she is afraid to tell her husband about. Then Shea comes over to "rescue" her when Cyn is sick from eating 2/3 of a chocolate cake. Soon the story jumps to Cyn, financially struggling but stoic Shea, and wealthy Derry commiserating over their individual plights. Derry brings up the fact that because she was unable to have children, she and her husband adopted a child, Charlie. Derry has discovered that Charlie is actually her husband's biological child. But no mention in this beginning part of the story is made of when Charlie had been adopted, how old he is, or anything else about him. The focus was on the "betrayal" of Derry. A very sophomoric story. I'm glad I didn't waste but a few minutes on it.
