5.0 out of 5 stars Great soundtrack
I love the really really old songs they used for this movie. "I'll Be Seeing You" by Billie Holiday has always been one of my favourite.

It's a shame they left out the song Allie plays on the piano. Someone was asking about it here; this is how it appears on the credits:

"Prelude for Piano, Op. 28, No. 4"

3.0 out of 5 stars An Answer
The instrumental piece playing during the trailer/commercials is also from the Cider House Rules Soundtrack. It is the Main Title by Rachel Portman. Hope that helps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Notebook Main Title Sheet Music, July 14, 2004

FYI: The sheet music to The Notebook Main Title just became available this week at Musicnotes (www.musicnotes.com). Just go to their main page and do a search on Aaron Zigman. It looks like the song is in C Major and easy to play. It's for piano, but I'm sure it could be adapted to string instruments. I know this is a place to review the album's content, but since so many people were asking about the sheetmusic, I thought I would post this.

4.0 out of 5 stars The movie and the song that is bigger than that, February 8, 2005
This review is from: The Notebook (Audio CD)
The movie was great enjoyed it. I noticed many people looking for or wanting more information on the Nina Gordon song "Tonight and the rest of my life". If this song sounds familiar it could be because you heard it in another movie (ie. Captian Corelli's Mandolin, Chocolat) or you have heard some of her other work with "Veruca Salt".

The cd "Tonight and the rest of my life" is a title on warner brothers released in 2000.

Also, worth noting, as I too was dissapointed that the song failed to appear on the soundtrack cd. The song is included in a exclusive dvd/cd product from walmart.

You can also find other recordings and general information at her website www.ninagordon.com

Regards,

d:

5.0 out of 5 stars Allie's piano piece, December 16, 2005
This review is from: The Notebook (Audio CD)
This is a lovely soundtrack for a beautiful film.
The piano piece (unfortunately not included) that Allie plays by heart is Prelude for Piano, Op. 28, No. 4 by Chopin.
Its quite simple to play as far as the notes go but harder to play well. You can get the music free online if you go to [...]

5.0 out of 5 stars The soundtrack is excellent, but omits the best song, August 1, 2005
This review is from: The Notebook (Audio CD)
Why would they omit the Chopin piece that she plays several times in the movie? Otherwise, it is a beautiful and diverse soundtrack.

5.0 out of 5 stars To sit through and enjoy... in silence., July 11, 2006
This review is from: The Notebook (Audio CD)
I loved "The Notebook" and one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much is because of how much it reminded me of "Bridges of Madison County". Besides some elements of the story and the great acting, there is a powerful element in the movie that reminded me of the great film with Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep: the music. The seven songs magically scored by Aaron Zigman for this movie are just perfect in themselves and perfect for the movie, the type of piano and string tracks that evoke melancholy without having to watch a sad movie. I must say I silently cry to some of these songs. I can skip the most of the big band and jazz themes, but Zigman's tracks I sit through and enjoy.
