Perfect for 2.5" into 3.5" bays.

Looks nice but it doesn't actually line up with the HD screw holes in my case.

This is well constructed and made of metal so very strong/durable.

This is well constructed and made of metal so very strong/durable. The side where you plug in the SATA and power cables is slightly indented to allow for L shaped connectors too.

One thing to note though: The side mounts (where the adapter mounts to the computer case) are not the same side threading as a standard hard drive, they are slightly smaller. The case I have (Antec Nine Hundred) uses longer screws to mount drives, so the ones that came with the case would not work. I had to get new ones at the hardware store. They're metric M3 .5 pitch.

Because of this I gave it 4/5 stars since the mounts should be those used on standard hard drives, and wasn't noted in the product details, and paid an additional $1.50 for new hardware. Otherwise, it deserves 5/5 for construction.

Good Points:

1. Sturdy.
2. No sharp edges.
3. Drive mounts in center so there are no problems with the bracket mounting screws.
4. Comes with mounting screws.
5. Inexpensive.

Bad Point:

1. The standard hard drives (as shown) have electronics on one side and that happens to be the mounting side. When you mount a standard hard drive in this bracket the drive electronics are hard against the metal bracket. This worked fine for my SSD (no exposed electronics) but I would not mount a standard drive in it without fiber washers between the bracket and the drive.

I've purchased 5 or 6 of these now for my 3 PC's we use for watching TV in the house (cut the cable cord back in 2009 and loving it!). Time to upgrade the PC's with some SSD's and these brackets are perfect. Fast shipping also.

This adapter for mounting an SSD in a desktop bay is heavy-duty metal. It would take a hammer to distort it from its shape (not recommended), so once the SSD is installed it is secure. It comes with four screws to mount your SSD to the sled and four screws to mount the sled to the rails provided with your case. The rails for my case were "tool-less" and had pins that insert into the mounting holes in the side of the sled instead of using the screws. It took some force to convince the pins into the holes, but once into the holes it was a secure installation. This sled accommodates only one SSD, which is great for my installation - I still have plenty of spare drive bays to expand to if needed. If you are using a compact case and are concerned for future expansion, you might consider one of the two-drive mounting brackets that are available. It's a trade-off between capacity and air circulation for cooling.

I am using the adapter to use an SSD in one of my desktops. The item is well built, SSD and adapter screw holes matched perfectly. The adapter came with all the screws to mount the SSD and to mount the adapter to HDD bay.

This bay was perfect for my 2.5" laptop hard drive. It fit right into my desktop build without any issue. However, there was one little problem. The included screws for the drive fit fine, but the screws included to mount the bay to the case were too small for the bay - I had to find some of my own screws to mount it. Maybe they drilled the hole too wide for these screws, or maybe it's just my drive. Other than than, it is a great, nice looking, solid bay.

I purchased this to allow another SSD to mount properly inside of my computer case since the drive did not have a bracket included in the box. This unit is heavy duty and I doubt I would ever need anything this strong but overall the quality of materials to the finish is superb and that's odd considering it's just a bracket.

I like that this product is cheap and it effectively mounted my 2.5" SSD in a 3.5" HDD enclosure.
It was easy to use and did not have sharp edges.
