The code dials do not all have a positive click to hold them in place, so they move easily when adjusting an adjacent dial, making it hard to keep the code entered. And the product stench was almost unbearable. Might be the oil on the metals, or the plastic cable coating. Had to put it away for a few days to air out. The list price shown of $25.99 with a $21 discount only makes it LOOK like a good deal. When HDE read my feedback, they offered to try to improve my situation. I declined the offer, since I wrote a truthful feedback and feel compelled to stay with it.

This lock is so flimsy. It barely fits into my standard lock outlet on my computer. The lock could be pulled off with a quite yank. The rubber material on the cable smells like it is made of toxic material. Safe your money and buy a real lock.

I have several pieces of computer equipment that I wanted to keep locked up with a cable (desktop, backup harddrives, 32" LCD TV, etc.) due to my paranoia about break-ins in the area. I have nicer cables for my computer and TV, but couldn't see spending $20+ each for cables for my other equipment (hard drives). So I got 2 of these cables to try out. They seem to work well enough. The cables are relatively short (3.5') and that's perfect for what I need. The locking 'fingers' seem to extend pretty far, so they hold into the lock slot well. It was a bit of a snug fit into the lock hole on my iBook (2001), but on my iMac and hard drive, it went in pretty easily (just trying it out on several things before writing this review).
I can't comment how how these will hold up for daily use, like in an office situation where you might be locking and unlocking your laptop every day, but my use is that I lock the device up once, and only need to unlock it once or twice a year.

Good product. Better price.
Great product for the price. It comes with this really weird toxic smell, but after a week of airing out the smell diminished. Other than that it works great. Read more

Bought three - They do not work.

Average lock for a low price.
I don't know why everyone is complaining about this product. Seeing how I paid less than five dollars for the lock WITH shipping, this is a great product. Read more

Pretty good for the price
I bought it for about $5. So, you get what you pay for. Not the best lock, but it does the job adequately.

Do not buy this!
