About the Author

Born Thomas Lanier Williams (1911-1983) in Columbus, Mississippi, Tennessee Williams first became publicly recognized in 1940 when he received a Rockefeller fellowship. Later, he wrote The Glass Menagerie, which established him as one of America's leading playwrights. In 1969, he was awarded the Gold Medal for Literature by the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the National Institute of Arts and Letters, and received in the course of his career two Pulitzers and four New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards. He lived in New York, New York, and Key West, Florida.

Exceptional play fitted with perfectly great performers. I saw it first hand here in Des Moines, IA. It was sad, funny, inspiring, dangling, ramantic and beautiful.
