About the Author

CHAR(13) + CHAR(10) Christine F. A. Weiss has been considered a 'shutter bug' since early childhood. She is the daughter of a fine-art /graphics artist who nurtured Christine's interest and involvement in the arts by exposing her to many Philadelphia museums during her childhood. In high school, she won several awards and a number of scholarship from the Moore College of Arts high school higher education program for her talents. The culmination of her successes in fine arts was soon realized by achieving several scholarship offers from numerous colleges and universities, but ultimately she decided to attend a renowned visual arts college in New York City. Using this as a vehicle to gain the industry awareness necessary to make an educated decision, Christine decided to specialize in cinematography and lighting design.CHAR(13) + CHAR(10)CHAR(13) + CHAR(10) While with Broadway Video she studied the post-production aspect of cinematographic production and was offered the opportunity to learn first-hand what real life professional editorial positions entail. Then, in 2001 Christine relocated from NYC to north New Jersey to advance her career while with Bitcon Productions (a prestigious wedding video company) and IVP New Media (a professional legal video services company). During the interim period between these consultant positions, she honed her skills with the video camera via subsisting solely from filming and editing contract wedding videography assignments, thereby working very closely & in-person with numerous newlywed couples.CHAR(13) + CHAR(10) In 2003 Christine relocated to Delaware to be closer to her aging parents and establish her own videography services company. Initially, her videography services included both wedding and legal video assignments. However, due to a few too many obnoxious wedding guests and the resulting damaged equipment, she decided to refocus her videography services to the much safer and more sane environment of legal vid

2.0 out of 5 stars The title is indirect and misleading, April 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Notes of a Retired Wedding Videographer: From proposal to reception; lessons learned from Brides and Grooms (Paperback)
The title of this book is seriously misleading. I purchased this book believing it would offer hints, tips, and techniques related to Wedding videography. Instead the author rants on and on about what "tacky" colors brides shouldn't use for there weddings, what shape they should choose for their wedding cake, what colors hired help should wear, why black is so boring, and she tells how on several occasions she recorded audio of grooms and groomsmen discussing the size and shape of her breasts while filming the wedding and goes on to say that she could've used the audio to extort money from her clients but instead gave unedited copies of her duties to the soon to be unhappy couple after the honeymoon.

This book really let me down. The author comes across as a negative old maid that never got married yet felt she had so much more to offer than anyone of her clients. However, there were a few things I did pick out of the book but it was a small amount of information for the money I spent on the book.

The author's intention was to offer brides guidance and suggestions from her experience as a wedding videographer. But, even under that premise she often loses sight of the objective and wanders off and instead goes into small tirades dredging up dirt and dissention of previous clients she worked for. The lack of clear literary direction and cohesion through out the book makes for a frustrating read.

If the author would have choosen a better title and cut a lot of the worthless and negative material out, the book could have fulfilled its intended purpose as a guide for brides and grooms for their big day. After reading the book I honestly can NOT recommend it to anyone either planning a wedding or in the wedding business. I gave it two stars becasue I did get something out of it but not my money's worth.
