Nothing But Love by WILKINSONS, THE

Beneath the slick production and saccharine songwriting that dominate Nothing But Love lies the unmistakable talent of two gifted siblings, who imbue even the most insipid material with sincerity. Sixteen-year-old Amanda sweetly nails the tear-jerking mother-and-daughter ballad "26 Cents" and wrings real emotion out of the corny forbidden-love saga of "Williamstown," although she's poorly served by the forced twang of "Back on My Feet." Younger brother Tyler, a mere 14, adeptly delivers the countrified puppy love of "Don't I Have a Heart" and the vaguely ‘80s-sounding reverb-filled rocker "Then There's You." Father Steve rounds out the trio, chipping in on the ubiquitous, tightly meshed harmonies and co-writing (with help from Music City pros) most of this debut's 11 songs. If the Wilkinson kids escape the Nashville studio knob-twirlers and put their limber voices in the hands of more-sophisticated songwriters, their next CD could be as remarkable as this one is bland. --Carolyn Wennblom

I purchased this CD for one song on it that I liked.

Far from being insipid, these songs reverberate with real talent, real emotions, real fun in many of the songs.

Until then I look forward to seeing them at the next FAN FAIR.

I was never really a big fan of The Wilkinsons until last summer when I saw them in concert. It was then that I finally sat up and took notice of these three great artists. My friend would always play the CD in her car and there were a few songs I liked, but seeing them perform live made me run out buy the CD the very next day! They were that good! I'm just sorry it took me so long to realize how talented they are. I am not crazy about all the songs on this CD, but the rest of the songs and the powerful voices of this family (especially Amanda!) more than make up for it. I especially love the upbeat fun tempo of "Boy oh Boy," the sweet sentiment of "26 Cents," and of course the just purely beautiful melody of the "Fly." I never tire of these songs and could listen to them all day! I really look forward to the new CD and the growth in songwriting we're sure to hear from it. Keep it up Wilkinsons -- you are incredible!

I just received the Wilkinson's CD for Christmas, and let me tell you, it's best gift ever! I totally fell in love with the first 7 songs instantly! And not to mention the fact that I was blown away by Amanda being only 16! Way to go fellow Canadians! :)

I guess this review could be called biased, because I've been to 8 of their concerts in the last year. Then again, my wife (who hates normally hates country music) loves this group, too.
I had the pleasure of seeing them in Houston on their CD-promotion tour (2 days after the CD came out). It was just Steve, Amanda, and Tyler, and Steve's guitar. Three microphones, and some tiny speakers. There were only about 50 people there. What a thrill. Folks, they're even better by themselves, without the backup of their band.
If you haven't been to a concert, you owe it to yourself. They're starting to do a few songs of their new CD (being recorded 10/13 and 10/14 1999) at the concerts. There are two of them that are absolutely wonderful (even better than anything on this CD). You haven't heard music until you've heard them sing their encore (or you can hear it during the sound check) -- an acappella version of "When I Need You" (not a song on their album).
Their's something very refreshing about The Wilkinsons. A family trio, full of love for each other, their music, and their fans. Their excellent, tight harmonies are enhanced by the fact that they're family -- it's hard to blend voices that well with unrelated people.
These are real people, too. I've been able to talk with them at each concert, and they're always happy to see the fans. Their enthusiasm, and love for the fans is genuine -- if it's an act, they deserve an Oscar.
So far, there are three unreleased songs on this CD that really should be released: "Don't I Have A Heart", "Williamstown", and "One Faithful Heart". Steve does this last one, and it's a beautiful love song that he wrote for his wife.

Even hearing clips from this albumn inspired me so much that I had to buy it. I have had it in my collection for almost a year now and it gets better everytime I hear it, and I can't wait for the new albumn to come out!

When it comes to vocal harmony, you just can't get better than family. And The Wilkinsons, father, son and daughter, have provided me with what I feel is the best cd release of this year. This is an exceptional debut for The Wilkinsons. This effort is one of those rare cases where there just isn't any filler; every song is a gem. Although it has not yet been released as a single, the song "Don't I Have A Heart" is bound for a No. 1 chart position. So you folks at Giant, listen up. Do yourself a favor, buy this cd. The musicianship is flawless and the songs and performance are outstanding.

What a talented Family and very friendly. I met The Wilkinson Family at Wild Horse Salon Nashville on the night of the Judds Family auction. We sat down at a table not knowing that it was their families table. We started talking with the Grandmother and I mentioned that I had heard the Wilkinsons were going to be singing there and how much I liked their song 26c, you can imagine my surprise when I found out I was with their family. We wish them all the best and hope they make it one day to New Zealand. Until then I look forward to seeing them at the next FAN FAIR.

The songs on this album are wholesome -- so much so, that it's easy to discount them on first listen. But pull up a chair and listen again. Far from being insipid, these songs reverberate with real talent, real emotions, real fun in many of the songs. These songs may have been produced in Nashville, but they were polished around the family's kitchen table. It doesn't hurt that the harmonies are tight enough to bounce a quarter off of, either. You'll be singing them on your way to work or wherever, and hey -- that's the highest praise of all.

This album is wonderful! It's very easy to look over what the song is truely about, so I suggest to read the lyrics first, or read them while listening! Steve Wilkinson wrote 7 of the songs. Amanda co-wrote one of them. This is a loving familly and caring people. A father and his daugher(17), and son(15), what could be better? The album is mostly about teenage love, but made for all ages. Also featuring Skip Ewings "The Yodelin' Blues." I have 11 favorites on this album!!! Buy it as fast as you can!!!
