4.0 out of 5 stars Same Ol Gossip, September 20, 2005
SPOILERS AHEAD-This book wasn't a total letdown, let me tell you. It was actually pretty good. But the summary gives you the wrong idea about what the book is about. The summary claims that Blair is going to have her big revenge against Serena and Nate but all she really does is ignore them for a couple of days. As exciting as the ignoring was (sarcasm) halfway through, they make up and everything is fine and dandy. So here's the deal with each characters. Blair is focusing on her new boy toy, an older, british version of Nate named Lord Marcus. Marcus has everything Nate has and more. He doesn't get stoned out of his mind and he's really sweet. So Blair decided to forgive Serena and everything is great. Serena, is thrilled that everything is going her way (surprise, surprise) and is even more happy when she bags the role of the star in an upcoming movie, Breakfast At Freds (modern day Breakfast At Tiffanys). The role is the same one Blair went out for but Blair isn't really affected or she doesn't care. Nate is getting stoned, and get this, he's been crying lately. So he steals his coach's Viagra to get him "excited" and he can't graduate and he has to spend the summer working blahblahblah. On the other side of the tracks, Vanessa decides that she's bored with Aaron and she decides to cheat on him with you guessed it. Daniel! Aaron finds out, doesn't care, and then leaves the story. And as for Jenny, her bording school search is pretty much hopeless until she stumbles apon Waverly Prep, where the new series "The It Girl" will take place, featuring Jenny trying to become popular. The graduate (finally) and the book ends with a confusing and awkward scene featuring Blair and Serena whispering "You know you love me" to each other before they engage in a full-on kiss on the lips. Now we are beginning to question if the hot tup rumor is true. Well, that's basically it. If you're are a huge GG fan, then this book will put the icing on your cake.

5.0 out of 5 stars IT"S IN THE SHOPPING CART ALL READY TO GO!, January 1, 2006
I have to say that the gossip girl novels are not influencing on my lifestyle in anyway as the worried parent wrote in the NO! review. these are just books, a way to escape from the world. i am personally against the use of drugs and think getting drunk is really stupid, but these books are just a fun way to enjoy an afternoon. if your daughter thinks that because the people in the book get high she should too them there is a problem! but if shes just reading them whats the harm in that! i think that these are great books. they're fun and exciting and well they give you something to do that isn't boring. there are worse things on TV and in movies than in this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars gossip girl # 8 did not disappoint..., November 25, 2005
Although I am an exceptionally fast reader, I read this book with surprising speed. I would not have been able to do this if not for it's intriguing story lines and downright enjoyable characters. This was, by far, the best gossip girl novel yet. Between Blair's surprising graduation speech, Lord Marcus' royal appearance, Vanessa's newfound sluttiness, and Dan's stupid chioces, this book was a stay-on-the-edge-of-you-seat, laugh-out-loud, I-wish-I-were-them, and thank-god-I'm-not-them, classic.
