5.0 out of 5 stars Karen Rose keeps getting better and better!
I would give this book six stars if I could!

Ethan Buchannan has a mission to find his godson who was kidnapped. Alec is a twelve year old deaf/mute boy who was taken from his house for a five million dollar ransom. He would do anything to help Alec's mom find him, no matter what the cost to himself.

Sue Conway has her reasons for kidnapping...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Her Best
I was disappointed with this book, after reading Don't Tell, Have You Seen Her, and I'm watching You.

I was looking forward to reading her next book, but this one fell short of her other books.

The violence in this book was really gorey. The romance was ok, but not her best so far.

But this is just my opinion. I won't go through all...

Sue Conway has her reasons for kidnapping Alec. After 10 years in prison, she is starting her retribution on the people she feels put her there. The kidnapping of Alec is just the beginning of a chain of events that was so horrifying and creepy, I had to put the book down at times. Karen Rose writes evil so well, you feel like you're in Sue's head w/ her.

Dana Dubrinksy runs the Hanover House which is a place where battered women come for aid. When Sue shows up, she has no reason to doubt her. Her face is bruised and her "son" shows definite signs of trama.

Ethan and Dana meet not knowing that Dana is housing the very person he is looking for. The relationship between the two is extremely intense. Both have their own dark secrets which they are trying to get past. Eventually they have to team up, along with characters that KR has introduced in previous books (Caroline and Max, Mia and Abe) along with a new character (or two) that is sure to have his own story somewhere down the line, to find Alec before he is killed.

Do not miss this book! It is a true winner. It will be along wait before her next book is out.

5.0 out of 5 stars A "Must Read Author!!!", August 9, 2005
Ms. Rose is a suspense author that you should add to your "must read" list. This lady can create characters and storylines that will leave you with goosebumps and chills, but warm you with a wonderfully touching romance!

Dana Dupinsky runs a shelter for battered women. She has had experience with this that has left deep scars on her soul. She has no idea that she has provided a safe haven for a monster. But, when bodies of her friends start turning up dead she has to face the fact that she must trust the one and only man that has ever made her feel safe and secure. In order to do this she must do the one thing she never thought she could do. Allow someone else a chance to protect her. But, will she realize too late that she is worth saving and that Ethan is what her heart has been looking for all along?

Ethan Buchanan is looking for the woman that kidnapped his godson. He knows that he and his partner Clay should call in the police for help, but they have been warned against this. Now it's a race against the clock to find Alec before he becomes part of the body count behind the moster Sue. Just when he must have his entire focus on Alec, he meets Dana. She calms him in ways he never thought possible. He is drawn to her and he won't let her get away. What will happen though when he finds out she has been unwittingly harboring the lady that has taken Alec?

This was a chilling read. Ms. Rose has created a villian that will make the reader shudder. At the same time there are so many twists and turns you'll be sitting on the edge of your chair waiting for the other shoe to drop! Needless to say this was fast paced read and one that was highly entertaining! The romance between Ethan and Dana was realistic and...romantic. We meet up again with Caro and Max ("Dont' Tell) and Detective Abe Reagan (I'm Watching You") in this action packed read. If you are a fan of romantic suspense Ms. Rose is the author for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing To Fear is NOTHING to miss--another great read by Ms. Rose!, July 14, 2005
By

Security expert Ethan Buchannan is in WAY over his head. But because of a bad case of survivor's guilt, and love, he has agreed to fight time and try to stay out of the police's notice while searching for Alec Vaughn, his deaf godson, who has been kidnapped. The kidnapping resulted in a brutal killing, and the disappearance of both Alec and his speech therapist, Cheryl. Alec's parents have been told that if they notify the police, Alec will die. Being a security expert, Ethan is quickly able to trace the email that was sent to the Vaughn's, and from there follow the trail that the woman who has taken Alec leaves. He quickly ends up in Chicago. While getting permission to search the video of a train station, Ethan meets Dana Dupinsky. He's immediately intrigued with the sizzle from the spunky Dana--who is she, what is she doing in a train station in the middle of the night?--but he can't loose focus on finding Alec. Dana Dupinsky has every reason to avoid the hunky Ethan. She can tell immediately that he has secrets of his own, but the secrets she's hiding are too sacred to share with any MAN. But what she doesn't tell, and what she keeps Ethan from finding out when she doesn't share her secrets--is that she runs a battered womens shelter where she gives refuge to women and children who come to her--she keeps there whereabouts hidden from all, to the point that there are times she helps them dissapear forever. And what neither of them know is that she's got Alec and his kidnapper in her shelter... Ethan and Dana's attraction to one another cannot be denied...but they're both caught up in a whirl wind...Dana's best friend is hit by a car in a hit and run...the Vaughn's receive more threatening emails...a doctor for the shelter winds up dead...and bodies are turning up all over Chicago. Ms. Rose pens an incredibly suspensful and moving story. While we know who dunnit form the get go, we don't why, and the curves that come up along the way make this an incredible roller coaster of suspense. The pages sizzle with emotion from Dana and Ethan, and I found myself falling for yet another of Ms. Rose's secondary charachters (when is Clay's book, anyway??). Not to be missed reading!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing To Fear, February 21, 2006
Nothing To Fear is a riveting page-turner filled with compelling characters that could easily spin off into their own stories. Ethan and Dana don't allow them to steal the show as they fight their own personal demons and face down a villainous woman bent on revenge. Just when you think you can relax, you can't. This novel is filled with twists and surprises that will keep you up at night.

5.0 out of 5 stars Karen Rose just keeps getting better, December 27, 2005

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Dana Dupinsky has sheltered battered women for years, so she has nothing to fear when "Jane" shows up at her Chicago shelter's door seeking refuge. Unknown to Dana is that Jane is actually Sue Conway, a disturbed killer, who has kidnapped the child in her custody, seeking revenge for her 10 year incarceration. Despite Jane not acting like most of the women that she comes into contact, as well as her lack of motherly warmth for her son, she continues to allow Jane to stay.

When she is injured while trying to stop a purse napping at a local bus station, Dana meets handsome security consultant Ethan Buchanan, unaware that Ethan is in Chicago hot on the trail of killer Sue and searching for his deaf godson. Alec. Neither knows what their real motivations are, just that they are extremely attracted to each other. As Dana's suspicions about Jane grow, so does Jane's body count.

Fraught with lots of tension, suspense, and plenty of red herrings to keep you guessing at Sue's motives, Karen Rose's storytelling just keeps getting better with each book, culminating into a tense showdown. She has a way with weaving characters from previous novels into her stories without making their appearances feel forced like so many other authors. Don't miss this one!

Besides you might like the book more than I did.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very exciting!, May 30, 2006

Dana Dupinsky runs a shelter for battered women in Chicago. Protecting and helping victimized women is taking up all her time, money and energy.

Dana often forgets about her own comfort and does everything she can to help as many women as possible. When she runs into a stranger on a bus station, she doesn't know that her life is about to change considerably. She does not yet know that Ethan came to Chicago to look for his kidnapped godson, and that the cruel woman he is looking for is hiding in Dana's shelter.

Nothing to Fear is another excellent suspense novel from Karen Rose. It is very fast-paced and extremely hard to put down once you start reading.

The main characters are very likable and realistic. Even though I usually do not reach for romance novels; however, the genre of romantic suspense that Karen Rose introduced me to, will be something I will definitely read a lot in the future.

Armchair Interviews says: Good example of romantic suspense genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Karen Rose Does It Again !!!, September 25, 2005
By
Ann T. Thompson (Olathe, KS United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have read all of the Karen Rose books and I continue to love every one of them. The other reviews go into great depth explaining the plot so I won't. The best review I can give an author is when I can honestly say "I can't put it down!" When I fall asleep at work due to reading all night I can tell you it was a Karen Rose book. "Nothing to Fear" did not diappoint me yet thrilled me with more suspense and visual images than most of Karens books.

I honestly can say that I wish she wrote 10 times faster so I wouldn't have to wait so long for another book to get published. When I meet a friend or stranger reading romance I can't help but recommend a Karen Rose book. This is my latest favorite of hers. Keep writing Karen!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Emotionally Charged, September 6, 2005
Young Alex Vaughn, who is deaf has gone missing with his speech therapist. His parents are informed that their son has been kidnapped and are warned that Alex will die if the police are involved with the ransom transaction.

Enter Security Expert, Ethan Buchannan who happens to be the child's godfather. During his frantic search to find his godson, Buchannan meets Dana Dupinsky, a woman who runs a shelter for battered women and their children, which coincidentally is the very place where the kidnapper is hiding with Alex. While major sparks are flying between the two, there are secrets that can't be told. Dana can't tell Buchannan about her work and he can't talk about his. Meanwhile bodies are dropping like flies.

I love the way this author inserts heartpounding evil into practically every page while simultaneously seducing the reader with sizzling romance. Karen Rose is a master at her craft. This book is a must read.
