5.0 out of 5 stars a delightful surprise
I happened to hear this band while sitting in a bar with a couple of friends in Amsterdam during my vacation. Let me just say, we were all blown away and immediately asked the bartender who this band was. The music was amazing and the order of the tracks was perfect. My only regret was not buying the cd in the Netherlands for a cheaper price than for the import to...

3.0 out of 5 stars A collection of enthusiastic & energetic songs
They are young, full of enthusiasm and energy and you hear it in their music. You can tell the lead singer Jacqueline Govaert is putting her soul and guts in her performance.

If some will say they sound 'amateur' it is probably because the production is raw and simple. I don't want to call them punk, there are not, but there are closer to Greenday (or maybe early U2 in...

They are young, full of enthusiasm and energy and you hear it in their music. You can tell the lead singer Jacqueline Govaert is putting her soul and guts in her performance.

If some will say they sound 'amateur' it is probably because the production is raw and simple. I don't want to call them punk, there are not, but there are closer to Greenday (or maybe early U2 in some songs) than to Limp Biskit. Maybe I should say garage band? Of course the best comparison remains their compatriot Dutch female singer Anouk.

If you like guitars unleashed, with heavy drums section you can headbang to, you'll like most of the album: "All unsaid", "Won't cry", "Give my life", "Protection" (about children sexual abuse), "Why do I", "Get it on", "Happy now" or "Let it go". They also offer some mid tempo 'ballads' where piano takes the lead, and some surprising vocal harmonies, as the huge hit "I would stay", "Everything and more" and "Fine". "Though that you would be" is maybe one of my favorites. I also like the rhythmic line of "I'll be gone" which sounds a little bit influenced by Caribbean beats.
There is a hidden a cappella version of "I would stay" at the end of the album.

Lyrics are simple (but not simplistic) and direct. You sometimes have the impression to grab some thoughts going through the writer's mind without knowing who he/she's talking to and what situation he/she is referring to ("Happy now").

They have to learn (and they are willing and determined to), but I would call it a promising first rock album. Give them a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Up and coming, October 29, 2001

While spending a few weeks in Belgium for work in the fall of 2000, I heard their single on the radio and bought the CD to take back with me to the US. Absolutely amazing! Krezip is filled with talent and potential, especially when considering their age. From jagged-edge guitar on "Let it Go" to the smooth lyrical piano singles like "Won't Cry", the band's emotion shows through on every note, with the unique touch of a Dutch accent. It is good to see this available finally in the US.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why do you think that all reviews before me give 5 stars?, September 29, 2000

Well.. maybe they are that good. This band has the potential to go very far. If you like good rock and great ballads this is a mustbuy cd. Don't be put off by their age. Their music is mature. Favorite tracks include Why do I, Everything and more and I would stay. A young band like this who compose their own songs and are live even better than on the album gives hope for the future of rock music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let yourself be surprised, July 27, 2000

I have seldom been so much impressed by a new-comming band likethis one. Although they are well-known in the Dutch Club Circuit Ifirst heard their music at the Pink Pop Festival. People, this is an album like an album should be. It's a mix between rock/guitar songs and orchastrated/ballad type songs. Be sure to pay extra attention to the lyrics. I was startled to find out that the bandmembers ages vary from 17 to 19 years and that they write and compose all songs themselves. My personal favourite songs on this album are: I would Stay, I'll be gone, Protection and Everything & More. Buy this CD and you'll have faith in the future of Dutch Rock Music.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best albums of 2000!!, July 12, 2001

On this cd you will find all kinds of things. From pure rock songs (with a punky edge) to realy slow ballads. Best songs: Get it On, All Unsaid, I Would stay (of course!!), Won't Cry and (maybe the best one) Fine.I know the band since the first demo cassette they made in 1998 (when the average age in the band was 15)and even more when you see them live, you will be stunned be the positive action that is in this young band. I like the demo cd 'Run Around'from 1999 even more. You can still buy it in Holland and Belgium. They are now trying to get a foot on the ground in the rest of Europe and i hope this will word good for them (and that they will never lose this energy!!) NOW, UP FOR THE NEXT ALBUM (not too soon, it has to be good!!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Should be a hit in America!!!!, February 23, 2001

I first heard of Krezip during my holiday in Amsterdam. I saw a music video of All unsaid. They totally caught my attention and went to buy it the next day.

Make sure you buy this album, because you don't want to miss these songs especially: I would stay, Fine, Won't Cry, Everything and more, and I'll be gone.

They are all powerful songs with really great lyrics. I listen to it at work and on the way home. I don't think I can tired of this album. ... . You guys in the Netherlands are lucky!!

Krezip is so cool! They're like the Cranberries, but then 1000X better. The music is so nice te listen to, and the words are very sensitive and true. I can feel what she means. It's just great. I don't have words for it....

This cd has sofar had two singles which both went immediately to the first place in Holland. And they deserve it. This very young Dutch band (16/20) is going to make it! Beautiful songs and it's a pitty that till today only Dutch and Belgian people are enjoying them!
