Editorial Reviews

Product Description

2010 album from the Country superstars. The album is a microcosm of all the things the band does well, which is to say it touches on many of the best aspects of 21st-century Country music. It is first and foremost uplifting, with songs like "Why Wait" and "Play" kicking off the proceedings with the call to enjoy life no matter what our circumstances. It features both the throwback groove of "They Try" and the fresh sparkle of "All Night To Get There." "Summer Young" is an uptempo celebration of the season of warmth and romance and "I Won't Let Go" is "You've Got A Friend" for the new millennium, a song steeped in the strength of love and friendship in times of trouble.

About the Artist

In just ten years, Rascal Flatts has become one of the most honored acts in country music history, reaching heights and achieving milestones reserved for the genre's elite.

They have set more venue attendance records than any country act en route to ticket sales of six million and counting. They have sold 20 million albums and earned 11 #1 singles. All six of their albums are platinum or multi-platinum and every one is among Billboard's Top 100 Albums of the Decade. They have won more than three dozen awards from the ACM, CMA, AMA and People's Choice, among others, and they have received that ultimate honor for those who have impacted the culture--a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

"We have had an unreal ten years," says lead singer Gary Levox with an appreciative smile. "We've done things we couldn't have been able to dream."

Their place in country music history may be assured, but Gary, Jay and Joe Don retain a newcomer's passion about capturing magic with each new project. Now, with the release of their latest, Nothing LIke This, they have done it once again, taking their career and their legacy another long step forward.

The album is a microcosm of all the things the band does well--Jay calls it "Rascal Flatts in a nutshell"--which is to say it touches on many of the best aspects of 21st-century country music. The title cut finds a way to bring freshness to the subject of love and sees Gary bringing a disarming desperation to his vocal.

"One of the more special songs on this album for me is 'I Won't Let Go,'" says Joe Don. "Being a parent now and listening to that song really hits home and truly hits me in the heart."

"It's always been about the songs first," says Jay, "and boy did we get our hands on some gems!!

"We think we've got a good balance," says Joe Don, "between the really deep, sweet, meaningful ballads and the 'right at ya' uptempos that keep the party going."

"I think there's something for everybody on this project," adds Gary, "and it's a full-length example of what makes us who we are."

"Overall," says Jay, "this is an album about fun, growth and change."

"We knew right away we had something special," says Jay, "even if we were the only ones who ever got to hear it!"

Committed to giving back, they are known for their charitable work, which includes raising three million dollars for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville.

"That," says Jay, "is definitely the thing I'm most proud of."

"As a kid," says Gary, "you stand in front of your mirror and only dream about being able to sell out arenas and stadiums. And to be able to play a place like Wrigley Field and sell it out, you can't even dream that big. The feeling is awesome."

"Without a doubt we've been blessed to have received our fair share of awards and recognitions in this business," adds Joe Don. "But above all, getting to make music that matters, that affects people emotionally and spiritually, is the greatest thing we could ever accomplish."

Never content to rest on their laurels, they are eagerly looking forward.

"The goal," adds Gary," is to continue to make amazing music together for at least the next ten years, because we honestly feel like we're just getting started."

"And as long as we stay true to the music and each other," adds Jay, "everything else will fall into place."

I have been a Rascal Flatts fan since they showed up with their first CD. I love their music and how they present the lyrics is beautiful. I expected this CD to be better than the previous one's. As always the singing is beautiful and the harmony is flawless but the songs all sound the same. Previous CD's had a mix of slow love songs, jumpy songs about good times, and sweet tear jerking songs about faith. This one feels more like pop music with a little bit of country. I usually love 9 out of 10 songs they have but this time I only liked 3 songs. I am disappointed by this CD.

I find 95% of country music to be absolutely detestable - but the Flatts grabbed my attention with their first CD and became one of the few exceptions to my rule. I was surprised that, despite their country sound, I enjoyed the experience. Their previous discs have always been great -- but there's always been that one song (or two) that I have to skip over. With Nothing Like This, they finally release an album that I enjoy from beginning to end - not one track on this disc is skip-worthy. Highly recommended!

As usual, the vocal are very good. One thing about Rascal Flatts that I really like is that their songs can make you wanna dance or they can touch you with ballads. Another good thing about them is that their muscic is perfectly enjoyable without them ever feeling the need to be dirty or inappropriate. They don't go around singing about drinking or promiscuity or anything like that, just clean and enjoyable music.
Pros: Why Wait, Play, and other fun, dancy song
Laid back songs like Easy and Nothing Like This
Their ballads are beautiful too, suchas the closing track.
Cons:
There isn't that much to complian about.
Sure, they may not have an extreme change from album to album, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I have been a fan of Rascal Flatts since 2002 and it completely amazes me that they can continuously put out great music. There is not one song of theirs that I don't like, but this album is really great. I'm so glad they got a #1 single with Why Wait and hopefully their current single, I Won't Let Go will go to #1 also. Gary's voice is so moving and the harmonies with Jay and Joe Don are crazy good! I've had the pleasure of seeing them sing the duet, Easy, with Natasha Beddingfield live and it is even more amazing than the album cut. If you are even the slightest Rascal Flatts fan, you should not be disappointed with this one!

I have been a Rascal Flatts fan since day one and I have to say that this is the best album that they have released so far! When I first got the Cd, I can honestly say that I did not skip a single song! I love their duet with Natasha Beddingfield, "Easy." Their voices jusy blend so well together. Another song that I am in love with on this album is their newest single, "I Won't Let Go." Wow! Just wow! I absolutely love this song! It is the perfect song to share with the one you love! :)

All in all, its a great album...definitely worth picking up!

I have been a Rascal Flatts fan since the Melt CD & it's amazing to see how far they've come since then. This CD is nothing but amazing, it has a great mix of slow & up beat songs. One of my favorite songs on the album is the current single "I Won't Let Go" This song reminds me a lot of "I'm Movin' On" & it could be a huge hit for the guys like "I'm Movin On" was. If you haven't picked up this amazing CD yet, I suggest you go out & get it!

This cd is another great cd by Rascall Flatts. I have always enjoyed their music and they just get better with time. I don't really have a favorite on this cd because they all the songs are so great. A must have!!
