5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing is Something
After almost a decade of hit and miss, mostly miss, with the record buying public, Janet slows it down and returns to a familiar place, Love. "Nothing," the theme song from "Why Did I Get Married Too?" is surely Janet's most engaging ballad since her early work with Jam and Lewis "Come Back To Me," or even to her debut album, "Janet Jackson" and the song "Love and My Best...

1.0 out of 5 stars Simply put this song sucks
This song is extremely boring! Janet's voice sounds horrible on this tune. Really is this the best you could do. This single is a big fat flop, yet another single from JJ added to big fat flop singles in her history.

After almost a decade of hit and miss, mostly miss, with the record buying public, Janet slows it down and returns to a familiar place, Love. "Nothing," the theme song from "Why Did I Get Married Too?" is surely Janet's most engaging ballad since her early work with Jam and Lewis "Come Back To Me," or even to her debut album, "Janet Jackson" and the song "Love and My Best Friend." For this Janet is stripped down to just vocals and a sparse rhythm section. The formula took me aback at the first listen, but the more you listen to it, it grows and builds much like the song itself. It's slow, sparse and affecting and multiple listens as well as hopefully radio plays makes this a winner for Janet and her fans. The video for the song is just as nice. The only thing missing is Jimmy and Terry actually taking this song and really working it out. But JD and Bryan Michael Cox did a really good job this time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing is a fitting theme song to a good movie., April 4, 2010

It may take "Nothing" a minute to grow on you, but when it does, this record is a quiet revelation! It has many similar elements to "Again," the theme song to her first feature, Poetic Justice, but it still stands on its own. This song serves as the theme song to Why Did I Get Married Too. I love Jan's vocals on this, the strings and the relatable lyrical content. It's just a really, pretty song in that Janet Jackson pop/r&b catalogue tradition.

I'm a total Michael Jackson fan, but still love to listen to Janet at times. This song is certainly one of those times. Beautiful, I love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great sound quality, slow ballad, November 29, 2010

I will preempt my review by admitting that I am an avid Janet Jackson fan. I will keep my opinions as objective as possible.

At first, I heard this song and I didn't like it that much. It grew on me after hearing it a few times and I began to sing it throughout the day.

This is a strong ballad that features a lot of the standard soft-singing Janet voice that many of her fans have become accustomed to over the years. The song has a strong message of trust and goes along great with the movie "Why Did I Get Married, Too?" by Tyler Perry (This movies is a sequel, so it is best to see the first movie, "Why Did I Get Married?" before seeing this one).

The sound quality is crisp and the download options include an MP3 file that can be stored directly to a computer (which is great for putting the song on your phone).

I would recommend this song for Janet Jackson music-lovers, people who like slow R&B ballads, and individuals who wish to send a "trusting" message to their loved ones.

There is no question while doing Why Did I Get Married Too?, Janet Jackson really went through a incredible and hard-hitting tailspin, with the heartbreaking death of her brother, Michael Jackson that affected her while shooting the Tyler Perry movie. Nevertheless, she has shown that she has the strength to continue on with her latest song, Nothing from that actual movie, Why Did I Get Married Too? The song isn't really a bad song, and brings in a soft-spoken throwback to her classic 90's ballads. The song isn't bad, but not definitive, and a very intimate back to basics sound for Janet. Hopefully, we'll get something new and exciting from Janet soon.
