3.0 out of 5 stars Something to be desired...
I bought this because of the song. Since I already have the album, I buy this to enhance my experience of the song. For starters, Peter (Club 69) was WAAAAAAY overused here; the individual remixes sound different, but have a from-the-same-producer feel. THESE are fairly good. The other 2, non Club 69, are too chill sounding for me. The song had great potential (by itself)...

The beauty of this song lies in its lyrics, with the simple messages of universal acceptance and love. The remixes of NOTHING REALLY MATTERS are excellent, and Madonna provides the fans their money's worth, with this 9 track maxi single. Many of the songs are remixed by Club 69, which provide a variety of different remixes, slow ones, fast ones, but in the end they are all great remixes which will satisfy even the biggest Madonna fans. There's also the Vikram remix, which almost has a feeling of drum and bass to it. Overall though, this would be the most satisfying maxi single from Madonna's album RAY OF LIGHT, and its worth the price for these remixes!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great remixes, December 20, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Nothing Really Matters (Audio CD)
Great remixes of Madonna's new single 'Nothing Really Matters.' Many people say there are too many Club 69 mixes on this disc, (6) but they are different varieties. Besides these 6 fabulous remixes, it also includes the rare and main concern, the Album Version plus mixes by Kruder & Dorfmeister (also known as 'K&D') and Talvin Singh Vikram.

Here is the full tracklisting and some comments:
01 4.27 Album Version - Great song to be released for a single
02 7.51 Club 69 Vocal Club Mix - Great mix of an already great song
03 8.19 Club 69 Future Mix - An excellent and popular Club 69 mix
04 8.00 Club 69 Phunk Mix - Sounds like the Future Mix
05 10.35 Club 69 Speed Mix - The best mix on the whole CD!! (I'm listening to it now, as I write!!)
06 11.10 Kruder & Dorfmeister Mix - Excellent mix. Some good & new sounds in this mix
07 7.43 Vikram Mix - Great!! A really good mix full of weird sounds!!
08 5.48 Club 69 Future Dub - Back to Peter Rauhofer!! Just a dub of the Future Mix
09 3.45 Club 69 Radio Mix - A radio friendly mix. Fab!!

As well as this, I also reccomend the fabulous US Maxi's for Music and Don't Tell Me!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Some of the Best remixes around, June 4, 2001

As a DJ I'd have to say this is an essental vinyl/CD to have in your collection...

These are some of the best remixes I've ever heard. I really love the Club69 Vocal Club Mix where most of the other Club69 remixes try to carry on the Vocal Mix....

the edit's are phenominal and the beats are infectious. I think anyone who love remixes especially madonna remixes should buy this single.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Really Matters-except this single, June 9, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Nothing Really Matters (Audio CD)
I love this song. The remixes are GORGEOUS!
1. Album Version (4:28, 10/10): Just what it says.
2. Club 69 Vocal Club Mix (7:53, 10/10): Groovy! It's a real shame that the Club 69 moniker wasn't used in more remixes, because he did a great job! (For those of you who don't know, Club 69 is Peter Rauhofer, "housed-up".)
3. Club 69 Future Mix (8:20, 10/10): Really cool, but a bit too noisy and overwhelming at times.
4. Club 69 Phunk Mix (8:02, 10/10): Phunky! I love it.
5. Club 69 Speed Mix (10:39, 11/10): No, that's not a typo. I love this one to death! The bass is KILLER!
6. Kruder & Dorfmeister Remix (11:10, 10/10): Absolutely gorgeous. Very slow take on the song. It would've been even better if, after she sang "like the future", it went into ambient-breakbeat mode.
7. Vikram Remix (7:44, 10/10): Another beautifully-done chill mix.
8. Club 69 Future Dub (5:49, 10/10): Coulda been longer, but I can't give it anything less than a 10.
9. Club 69 Radio Mix (3:44, 10/10): Love this edit! It starts out like the album version, then, when M sings "because of you", you hear a cymbal crash and it goes into the Club 69 remix! Nicely done!
You should buy this single if:
a) you love to dance
b) you are a HUGE Madonna fan, like myself
or
c) you love remixes.
9 great mixes for $7.49! What more could you want?
l8r!

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool,Unusual Song Brings Variety of Mixes, August 9, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Nothing Really Matters (Audio CD)
Out of all Madonna's lauded work on "Ray of Light", "Nothing Really Matters" stands out as being the most different. The lyrics are like wise oriental proverbs speaking about mutual adoration and the meaningless quality of material things. What a revelation! What a change from someone who once was(and still is) called the material girl! The music itself is a disco-type bassine compouded with a club 1-2-3-4 beat. Exotic, catchy sound efx highlight the track. The remixes offer us an enjoyable listening experience. Club 69 did a good job handeling the role of predictable club mixer, providing us with a nice variety of mixes(6-tracks on maxi single). Kruder and Dorfmeister added a more trancey, acid jazz mood to this maxi-single with their remix. Finally, Talvin Singh provides a beautiful reworking with an unusual dance/trance mix. Your first listen to Singh's remix(called "Vikram Remix",found on track 7) will leave you somewhat confused, trying to make sense of these odd sounds. But further openminded listens will heighten your appreciation of the emotional weight of this mix. All in all, these remixes offer a variety of interpretations of this cool song, without betraying it's overall meaningful soul. Good job Madonna and mixers!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Madonna's best maxi single since BEDTIME STORY!, April 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Nothing Really Matters (Audio CD)
Finally, the USA gets the better end of the deal! The maxi includes 6 Club 69 remixes (four too many, if you ask me) and most importantly, the heavenly Vikram Mix and Kruder and Dorfmeister's remix. Both tracks are worth the buy alone, especially if you're into the drum-n-bass, trip-hoppy sound. A slammin' maxi, definitely worth the addition to your Madonna collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remixed, January 20, 2000

This review is from: Nothing Really Matters (Audio CD)
I really enjoyed the Nothing Really Matters Club 69 mix...It pumps you up and makes you want to go to a club. I can't explain the way it was remixed. Perfection. In the middle of the remix it breaks you with nothing but an orchestral sound covered by Madonnas voice. It then starts up again returning you to dance. If you love this song and video, you will love these remixes!

The song had great potential (by itself) of being a great dance song. So, I thought remixes would enhance this; no. Nothing Really Matters is best in its original form, and the remixes simply serve as a sort of hindrance. They're okay, save the 2 chill mixes which are intolerable for this high energy track, but they don't give it any depth. The same thing happened with Get Together, except THOSE remixes held THAT song WAY down, while these are still pretty good. It's just, I was expecting remixes that brought out more of this song's lushness, like I do with all remixes. These sort of betray the song, a bit too much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best ROL Maxi Single, November 12, 2000
This review is from: Nothing Really Matters (Audio CD)
Nothing Really Matters is one of the best songs from her 1998 album Ray of Light, and though this single's release was pushed back month after month, it was definately worth the wait. This is in my opinion the best maxi single released from the ROL album (they were all spectacular, yes even POG). Many of the remixes on this are done by Club 69 who do a wonderful job. There are other remixes like the Vikram remix and many more. These are very good remixes, its a shame this single didn't perform well because it has potential. If you get one ROL single this would be the best one, with 9 tracks and great remixes.

and the remixes included in the maxi-CD are incredible. The Club 69 remix reinvents the song for the club-scene, but the soul of the song remains intact. The track has been a huge hit over Europe, Asia and Australia and though it fared poorly in the US chart, this is in part due to the fact that the Ray of Light CD has sold so well. Overall, this is one of her most solid dance tracks for years and a multi-layered testament to the energy and innovation that is MADONNA.
