This book focuses on recent and for the most part local saints (North & South America). It is filled with uplifting, true stories of the Saints and explains the process that the Catholic Church uses to Canonize Saints. An outstanding book that I couldn't put down!

I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful this book is, and how much it has done for my faith. I had no idea that miraculous cures were so abundant, even in today's society. Patricia Treece is excellent!

Patricia Treece is a journalist who knows we are a bunch of Doubting Thomases.

I am mesmerized reading the details of who gets their prayers answered, and why, what they do.... like the man who goes to bed only after praying to offer sacrifices to God to make up for the less-than-perfect lives of the people he is praying for...

I am equally mesmerized to see who doesn't!
A sick man who refused to stop sleeping with another man's wife, a woman who thought she 'deserved' a miracle because she went to Mass every day and 'pretty' good people who are not doing their best... and more details that serve to educate us so we can move closer to God.

Books about saints are usually written by already extremely devout people who take our belief in these miracles for granted. Ms. Treece, while devout, doesn't take our devotion for granted. She provides the details many need to understand what prayer is, how God works, why Catholics pray to saints to ask them to, in turn, beg God's mercy for them.

A must-read for anyone who wants to learn.

One note for readers of French translations, such as the English version of the Lourdes web site and books and sites about saints who were French:

There is only one word in French ("confiance") for the English concepts of "confidence" and "trust." When used in the context of someone having "confidence" in God, a saint or their prayers it usually means "trust," or even "faith." They usually say "I have confidence in him" in the way we say "I trust him" or "I have faith in him, he'll do it."

This book deserves more than 5 stars. As a Protestant I cannot tell you how much this writing has increased my faith and my respect for the Catholic church. I believe this is a must read for anyone who doubts the power of prayer or the occurance of miracles today.

Patricia Treece is a first class journalist and her stories are amazing.
