Review

"This is the book that has me still thinking about it the morning after. There were so many emotions and dramas in this full length novel. I look forward to reading more from this author. I highly recommend this book."

"What an awesome read! I laughed, cried, hurt and fell in love with this one."

"If you're a fan of women's fiction and contemporary romance, you'll enjoy Nothing Stays In Vegas".~Katherine Owen, Author of, Not to Us

From the Author

Dear Reader,

Las Vegas has a reputation for being a city of sin and excess. A place where misbehavior is not only permitted, but often encouraged. Because after all, What happens in Vegas...Stays in Vegas. Right?

After a recent trip to Sin City of my own, I started thinking about what would happen if a 'good girl' let loose a little and let down her guard. What if by allowing herself to take a chance, she met someone who changed her life? And what if... Nothing Stays in Vegas after all?

I hope you enjoy Lexi's story of love and discovery in this story that begins in the most unexpected place and ends in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Canada.
~Elena

More About the Author

Like a lot of my readers, I'm a busy mom. It often feels like life is pulling us in a million different directions, which is why I love to write romance!
There's nothing better than knowing you have an escape waiting for you at the end of a long day in the form of a good book.

I'm lucky enough to live in the shadow of the Canadian Rocky Mountains in the foothills of Alberta, where I can write the stories I love. Whenever I get the chance, I escape into those amazing mountains and I can usually be found sitting with my feet in the lake, working on my next book.

As well as contemporary romance novels, I also like to write women's fiction and my collection of stand alone novels are all part of the Escape Collection. I'm always trying something new, so stay tuned to see what's next!

Nothing Stays in Vegas is a wonderful love story and shows how a single night can change your life forever. Five years ago, Lexi spent a weekend in Vegas to celebrate her best friend's birthday. She had been separated from her husband for a few months, but really had no intention of finding a little action of her own. Until she met Leo.

Leo was the handsome guy on the hotel staff who was instantly drawn to her. With little more than an introduction, he made sure that Lexi and her friend had a memorable birthday celebration. Part way through the night, he popped by to see how everything was going and the sparks began to fly. It was love at first sight, though both denied it to themselves at the time. The night passed and an unexpected and important career development prevented Leo from meeting up with Lexi the next day. She returned to Canada feeling rejected and used and, when her estranged husband met her at the airport and professed his love and his sudden willingness to have children with her (the main reason for the downfall of their marriage in the first place), Lexi welcomed him back into her life and they went on to quickly become pregnant.

But when the baby was born - he didn't look like Andrew...bet you can guess who he DID look like, though.

Fast forward 5 years and Lexi's best friend is now getting married and has decided that she wants to do it quickly and...in Vegas! Lexi is nervous about returning. What if she sees Leo? She's never quite forgotten him, after all. How could she?

Even though they were staying in a different hotel than last time, who turns out to be put in charge of the wedding preparations but Leo, himself. And he hasn't forgotten Lexi at all.

The sparks are still there and Lexi's husband isn't blind.

Although this book read more like a chick-lit, it uses a lot of ploys that I strongly dislike in romances: Big Misunderstandings, Things Left Unsaid, unsubstantiated profound love, plot-necessary unprotected sex, and a vying love interest. The misunderstandings were huge and lead two people whose one night fling felt like a meeting of soul mates to nonetheless part ways for the foreseeable future. And I don't mean to sound like a cynic'I am a romance book addict, I swear'but the entire premise of their deep and endless love was a little hard for me to believe, since they spend less than 24 hours together and then don't see one another for six years. The unprotected sex was extremely annoying because Lexi and Leo have just met, they're in Vegas, it's 2004'how does a conversation about condoms not take place, or a morning-after realization not even occur?! And the vying love interest is Lexi's husband Andrew, so color me bothered.

When Lexi first goes to Vegas, she and Andrew have been separated for six months and are headed towards divorce. She wants children, but he doesn't, so after much back-and-forth they decided to call it quits. In my mind, it therefore wasn't a problem that she sleeps with Leo'as all "Friends" fans will recognize: They were on a break! Lexi and her husband end up back together after various ill turns of fate throw a wrench in Lexi and Leo's HEA. Andrew says he wants her back and that he's willing to try for kids. She knows when Ben is born that he's Leo's son and the fact that she never says anything rubbed me the wrong way. Both Andrew and Leo deserved better than that, even had Leo been the jerk she thought him.

When Lexi and Leo see one another again in 2010, she's still married to Andrew.

First things first - this is a well written novel, comfort food for the heart. If you're having a bad day, or a bad year in your own love life, this is a good book to read, telling you that bad marriages aren't the end of the world, that sometimes one-night flings are more than flings.
"Vegas" flows smoothly and has an engaging heroine. Lexi is a good girl - in that old fashioned sense of the word. She honors commitments, and she doesn't jump into bed because she's in a strange town a long way from home. She's in a bad place in her marriage. She goes to Vegas and meets a nice guy. Which Leo is. Hot. Sexy. Loving. But a nice guy. It's easier to be nice, of course, if you're a hunk and hot. But, hey, hunks need love too!
There are the inevitable complications because, let's face it, without them you'd have a dull, if sweet, much shorter novel. So (spoiler alert) Lexi goes back to hubby, lives a lie for six years, and eventually has to decide if she'll stay with hubbie or go with the hunk.
The only flaw is the stick figure villain of the husband. The best novels of love - not formula romances - create a real conflict for the heroine. There is none here. Hubbie Andrew is the ultimate loser. Not much good in bed, not a good father, not a good husband. Why does Lexi stay with him for six years. That's the only false note. If Lexi had had any feeling for him, if Andrew had had even a remote shot at keeping his wife, you'd have a story. But it would be a different story.
So for what the author attempted, this is a five star.
