3.0 out of 5 stars You damned if you do,And damned if you dont!!!!
I was really looking forward to reading this book,It was a good read..But I felt as though the ending was really rushed,And once again we were left hanging.Alot of the scenes were a lil too far fetched and this Mario character was quite unbelievable,I just had a feeling he had something under his sleeve..oh well I guess we will have to wait to see how Yoshi gets out of...

5.0 out of 5 stars OMG!!! KIKI PUT IT DOWN IN THIS ONE!, August 26, 2009

Yoshi Lomax was a mess in this book. Kiki really wrote the hell out of this story. I can tell you that Notorious is way better than part one (Playing Dirty). You got to go out and buy it. You won't be dissappointed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Notorious is what it is., March 11, 2011
This review is from: Notorious (Paperback)
Notorious is an easy urban fiction read about the fall of a top lawyer who represents mobsters. The author use way to many details to describe the characters outfits thinking that she is creating three dimensional characters when she really only created one dimensional characters. The main character starts out being shallow but eventually becomes a decent person. I am not sure if you actual see the growth or it is just there at a blink of the eye. I found this book little unrealistic. The main character is hiding from the Feds but she goes straight to her family. The Feds know everything about you so I believe that is just unrealistic that they would not know about your daddy's people. For 90% of the book I did not liking the main character. I found her all about money and image and that just made you not like her. The biggest lesson I took away from Notorious is lesson we are told all too often, that you can't let fame and greed go to your head or you will end up on the bottom. It takes a lot of sense and reality check to stay up on your came. Ms Swinson books is good for the average reader but not for the avid reader. The plot is good; the pace is good, but it just lacks a lot of thought. I would say Notorious was an easy read but left me without any desire to read any others because I am not a big fan of urban fiction. I have read my share of urban fiction and I still would say there is better reads out there if this is genre that you like.

4.0 out of 5 stars You're Not Alone, January 7, 2010
This review is from: Notorious (Paperback)
Notorious is part two to Playing Dirty and continues the story of Yoshi, a once top notch attorney from Miami who was on the run for murders she didn't commit. With no place to hide and funds running low, Yoshi picks Norfolk, Virginia to call home. Yoshi is use to designer brands and a luxurious lifestyle. In Virginia, Yoshi must become acquainted with her father's side of the family. The country life is different than what Yoshi is use to, but she maintains her cool to keep her identity under wraps. Yoshi becomes the number one "IT" girl when she witnesses a brutal murder by a drug dealer. Will Yoshi be able to change her diva-like attitude and stand by her family when they need her or will she let her guard down and succumb to love?

Carmine, Yoshi's cousin, had a rough life. Her mother was strung out on drugs and her baby sister was dealing with a known drug dealer. Carmine still lived at home with her grandmother and hates her waitressing job at IHOP. When Carmine's long lost cousin Yoshi comes to visit, Carmine wishes that she could be everything that Yoshi is. Yoshi had a great career, good looks, and expensive taste...at least that's the way it appeared. With their relationship growing stronger everyday, Carmine realizes their bond is stronger then ever when their lives are in danger. Will Carmine stay by her cousin's side when the times get rough or will Carmine see this as a meal ticket and snitch on her cousin to cash in on the prize?

Notorious was a definite thrill seeker from the beginning to end. Kiki Swinson showed the growth of Yoshi who once was a high class diva but eventually changed into a humble, caring person. Yoshi gained a conscience and cared about someone other than herself. Notorious showed that no matter where you go trouble can find you. What you do with that trouble is the key. Yoshi turned a negative situation into a positive one when she realized that she was not alone in this world. Her family and loved ones showed her that no matter what obstacles she had to conquer, they would be standing by her side. I am eagerly awaiting the follow up, Ms. Swinson. I know you will not disappoint.
