Sort of the Les Claypool of drummers....,

Like a chameleon on flanel shirt, Josh Freese can adapt to any musical style. From Michael Jackson, to A Perfect Circle, to Butt Hole Surfers, to The Vandles; Josh Freese is the man who has done it all. But like Primus, this album when it was released seemed like it went relativly unoticed. Which is a crying shame because this is great fun CD.Right off the bat, from Playboy Mansion, you know that this is not going to be an ordinary CD. And trust me when I say the weirdness CD starts up, it doesnt stop. Thankfully, the quality doesn't seem to dip either. The drumming on this album shows Freese once again in top form. From his drum rolls to his very intricate style of playing, Josh Freese shows that he is one of the top drummers in the world(in my oppinion, second only to Danny Carrey. And maybe Morgan Rose). But what makes this album very much different from most solo releases is that for the most part(aside from a few guest musicians), this really is a solo album. Josh Freese from drums, to guitar, to bass, to keyboard, and to vocals, he does it all. And best of all he does it well. For the most part, there isnt much to complain about. Other than one track(So All Under Me), the tracks are very well done. They maybe of the power-pop punk variety. But where most fail, Freese does it well. The only thing, like I said, all the tracks tend to be a little on the weird side. So if you are tired of all the ME TOO music that hit the charts screaming in 2000, Josh Freese's Notorious One Man Orgy should be enough energy to give a good work out. Just remember, as stated two times already, sane people should not apply. Unless you like this sort of thing. Then by all means, go ahead!

One for the collection.,

JOSH FREESE is crazy. He is also on of the coolest people working in alternative music these days. THE NOTORIOUS ONE MAN ORGY is a fun record full of punk rock beats and poppy harmonies that never once takes itself seriously. FREESE deserves to goof around after doing some sweet drumming for the likes of cool bands like A PERFECT CIRCLE, ABANDONED POOLS and a host of others in the rock community, and he does so in a refreshingly silly way creating a CD thats great for parties and long car rides. Add this one to your collection for the fact alone that JOSH FREESE and this disc is cool and original.

This album is great, it's hilarious and shows that this guy is not only an amazing drummer, but is a talented, singer, songwriter and all around musician. It's tons of fun!

Josh Freese is more than just a drummer!,

I was surprised and delighted to hear such a fun filled record from drummer Josh Freese. I have known him for only his drumming; however, this album lets his other musical talents shine. His lyrics are funny and the music is well written. If you are a fan of his, you must hear this....I love it! If you are not already a fan, try a listen and I think you would really like it.

Quirky and Fun Listening,

Picked this up this gem at a bargain bin CD sale, new for .92 cents. I knew Josh was musical but what a huge surprise! A Foo Fighters type musical example, mixed with Weezer lyrical approach. TNOMO is more up tempo rhythm example with thrown about comical satirical instances included, just more than a few occasions (era year 2000). Overall, a very good album, catchy songs with great musical arrangement: " Josh Freese is Ready" "Why Won't Left Eye Get With Me?" Best songs: "Bloodmobile" and "Ass Backwards" and an usual phone message recording to start off this CD, can't go wrong with that!

Don't get me wrong, Josh Freese is a fantastic drummer. But that's all that he should do. His meager songwriting skills were first evidenced in Euro-barge by the Vandals ("I am the ambassador of f-in kick your assador"? Give me a break). 'The Notorious One Man Orgy' is more of the same. True, Playboy Mansion is fun to listen to, Men & Women is alright, but the rest of the album borders on straight up stupidity. Lyrics seem like an amateur attempt at the style of humor that the Vandals did so well up through 'Hitler Bad, Vandals Good', guitar is overly simple power-chords (the kind of simple that screams 'I can't play anything else' not 'I'm really good but choose to play simply') with a little help from Warren Fitzgerald, and even the drums don't seem to measure up to his playing with other groups. Overall, I found this album very disappointing, especially because his work with the Vandals has been so excellent.
