Book Description

May 1, 1999
Poetry. For readers involved in the escalating conflicts of language: this manual supersedes FM-4907, Unamerican Activities of Nouns and Verbs, and FM-4924, Domestic Espionage of Nouns and Verbs. "A sideshow barker consumed with his own conceit, Vitiello gleefully--no, obsessively--parades the implausibility of figuration: the unconvincing costume of personification, the weak and watery mirror of metaphor--and winks at our inevitable gawking, even as he flaunts the ropes and pulleys behind the stage. Plausibility ain't all, baby. There's also entertainment" (Mary Burger). Some final statistics inform us that total approximate reading time measures 58:09.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great... just not for the faint of heart, May 3, 2006
This review is from: Nouns swarm a verb (Paperback)
For those of you expecting a book with pages and pages of poems, Nouns Swarm a Verb will shock and horrify you.

Nouns Swarm a Verb is one single giant poem. Few poets dare to publish epics in this day, but the poem of Nouns Swarm a Verb starts on the cover, continues through the legalese pages and notices, and doesn't end until you close the book.

Chaotic, playful, and confusing, Vitiello is a master experimental poet who needs to write more books for us.

This book is absolutely wonderful. Experimental poetry at its best. If you like crazy wild different things, this book is for you.
