Editorial Reviews

Nourallah Brothers was the first release by musically gifted brothers Salim & Faris Nourallah. Unlike many pop albums of the past, this is not a disparate collection. The CD shines with the best of pop’s hooks, energy and sincerity. Its well-constructed melodies will resonate in your heart, stirring memories and dreams of the past. This is an honest, simple album; well conceived and concise, it is a refreshing addition to the world of pop music. This is music from the heart for the heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Unknown Gem, April 9, 2008

An incredible collaboration between two brothers, Salim and Faris Nourallah. The music is pure, simple, and beautiful. Insightful lyrics, simple, tasty production, and great interplay between the two, both excellent songwriters and musical craftsmen. Disc one is the original album (recorded on 8 track), and the bonus disc is an aborted attempt at a second album. Unfortunately, because of personal differences, the brothers will most likely not work together again, but they left us this treasure to mine and enjoy. The brothers have since gone on to produce their own magic on solo albums. I haven't yet heard Faris' albums, but the three by Salim (Polaroid, Beautiful Noise, and Snowing in My Heart) are all magnificent, emotional without being heavyhanded, and beautiful. A songwriter/producer of the first caliber. Salim also has an EP, A Way to Your Heart, that was the first taste of his solo talents, and a live in the studio recording with his band called Pleasantry Lane (the name of his studio). Both worth having. Salim also released two albums as the frontman for a rock group called The Happiness Factor (which he seems to prefer to forget, but I prefer to remember). Both very enjoyable, though it took him going out on his own to really unlease his talents.

Anyone who wants to recapture the elements of the Kinks, The Beatles,Replacements, the Dead and many others need to pick up on the Nourallah's self titled release. One of the most enjoyable CD's you'll hear all year and, perhaps, into the future. A songwriting/performance partnership that I'll be watching well into the future. Pop/folk perfection that many work toward achieving but few reach,With this 2 disc offering The Nourallah's have climbed to the mountain top of the music world, One wonders who will join them at the top? Standout tracks: Morning Cigarette,Heaven Is the Day,I Wanna Be an Artist,Missing You,Somewhere the Lights Don't Shine and those are only on the first disc! Marvelous stuff!......
