Book Description

Learning to Love what Father Loves

Other seeds fell on good soil, and yielded grain—some a hundred times as much as was sown, some sixty times as much, and some thirty
(Matthew 13:8 AMP).

Nourishing the Seed
is the result of well-known Bible teacher and author Bob Mumford’s spiritual walk with the Lord. You will come alongside his unfolding journey over the past 55 years of learning to love what God loves. Like his book Mysterious Seed—Maturing in Father’s Love, he passes along to you the bag of seed that the Father gave him.

The DNA of the acorn enables it to become all that God the Father intended: a huge, symmetrical, and fully formed oak tree. Father’s Seed in you comes to maturity in the same way. Nourishing the Seed helps you:
  • Understand Agape love as the mysterious Kingdom Seed that must be cultivated and nourished to grow and produce fruit in your life.
  • Address the issues that keep that nourishment from happening.
Thoughts and Questions at the end of each chapter provoke deep and inspiring introspection to form a more meaningful relationship with God the Father. Helpful diagrams and charts throughout also add depth of understanding.

Nourishing the Seed is a compilation of powerful, daily, devotional-size teachings designed to move you spiritually forward. Rather than vague concepts and principles, these teachings will nourish the Seed that is growing within you—the serious believer—so that you can be unshakable and learn to love what Father loves.

Editorial Reviews

“Bob Mumford has more mature, extended, unfettered grip on the dynamics of agape love than anybody alive. I heartily and happily commend this work to you and everyone!”
—Jack Taylor, President of Dimensions Ministries

“We do not become a new person by changing our behavior. We discover the person we already are in Jesus and behave accordingly. This is an excellent book in which to really get to grips with the new self. God is not dealing with our old nature; it's dead. He seeks rather to establish our righteousness and our new creation capacity to be as wonderful as Jesus."
       —Graham Cooke

"Nourishing the Seed - Learning to Please God as a Father" is made up of 128 profound short devotional readings in which gifted Bible teacher Bob Mumford draws from spiritual nuggets and lessons he has gleaned from over a half-century of walking with God as Father. He uses the metaphor of the seed to help the reader understand Agape love in growing in a relationship with Father God.

These scriptural seeds when nurtured encourage and produce growth and spiritual maturity in the believer, providing additional nutrients through introspection on the thought provoking questions at the end of each reading. Application of suggested actions included with these "Thoughts and Questions" act as an agent of cultivation to encourage maximum growth during the period from germination to maturity and harvest.

A user friendly format includes diagrams and charts that help the reader visualize the key thoughts of the narrative and add to the overall understanding of the material.

Mumford is known for his desire to bring about reconciliation and unity among the family of God and for his worldwide ministry of prophetic teaching. "Nourishing the Seed" is written for anyone serious in their desire to follow Jesus and to grow in their relationship with God the Father.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vital principals to living a Christ centered life August 29, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I am sure many have heard in Christian circles the words "agape love". Enter Bob Mumford's book Nourishing the Seed and you will be taken down a course that will involve abiding in Christ and how to nourish and cultivate eternal seeds so that the fruit of Agape love can be reached. It is only in Christ that we are able to produce the agape response God desires. As we journey what he calls the agape road path and are motivated to do what He asks, will we be able to deny our own preferences, prepare ourselves as people(as people will dump their issues on us) and understand that conflict will arise but will inevitably strengthen us. He states "When some form of death comes knocking at your door, it is the cross and you need to embrace it in order to impact kingdom life".

There are five aspects spoken of that we become more capable of embracing as we mature in the authority of Christ.
- absorb human failure
-love without reward
-vocational suffering
-intercessory behavior
-extender of mercy
To nourish the seed we must develop intimacy and understand the value of intercession. Greater discernment will result, he shares, and we will be able to "see through instead of look at" while God entrusts us to help build His kingdom.

Learn the value of ridding yourself of the weights of anger, rage, curses and slander. It will enlighten you to learn how God tests us and what the prerequisites are to living a transformed life. This is NOT a book that stresses kingdom life as works oriented but understanding His grace and not continually living with guilt and condemnation.

These principles cannot be overstated and will revolutionize many, freeing them to live as God desires in the kingdom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! February 3, 2014

I used to listen to Bob Mumford many years ago via a cassette club in Bible College. I was so thrilled to find this little gem and it did not let me down. In classic Mumford style, he systematically explains scripture in his easy to understand fashion. I absolutely thoroughly enjoyed this book and used it as a devotional over two weeks.
