Same original lineup...totally different sound, October 2, 2006
This review is from: Nouveau Calls (+1 Bonus Track) (Audio CD)
This is the first of 2 back to back recording endeavors that the original Wishbone Ash lineup embarked on.
If you were hoping for that unmistakable WA sound from the early 70s.....forget it...What we have here is more of a journey to new audio frontiers..exploring more current musical trends and techniques..What made the band great was their ability to utilize analog equipment and tube amplifiers to achieve uniqueness..Same original lineup....completely different sound...That's it in a nutshell.
It's hard not to like these guys....when you sit back and remember all the classic tunes they created together. I purchased both cd's....being the completist that I am....and I dont regret it a bit.

nouveau calls, March 4, 2010
This review is from: Nouveau Calls (+1 Bonus Track) (Audio CD)
one of my all-time favorite albums. nouveau calls means no vocals, the album is all instrumental. a much different sound from the early days of wishbone ash and their anthem song phoenix, but this is a killer album that shows the true talent of these incredible musicians. the first time you hear it you may wonder if this is the same band, but it won't take long until you recognize the soaring, twin lead guitars of the old days. it's an album that grows on you until it becomes a lifetime favorite. it stays in my cd exchanger in my car and it's a refreshing change of pace from the rock and alternative rock i usually listen to. i give it my highest recommendation.
