This review is from: Jean Nouvel (Studio Paperback) (German and English Edition) (Paperback)
This is a concise and copiously illustrated 2nd (1st) edition of a paperback survey on 208 (176) pages of all major buildings and projects from 1972 to 1995 (1991) published under ISBN: 3764353562 by Birkhäuser (Basel...) and ISBN: 0817953562 by Birkhäuser (Boston) in English and German side by side [and 1st ed. under ISBN: 3760880991 by Artemis (Zürich) and ISBN: 1874056102 by Artemis (London) in English, under ISBN-10: 3764355794 by Birkhäuser (Basel...) in German, and under ISBN-10: 3764355786 by Birkhäuser (Basel...) in French]. Following 20 pages with analysis of the architect's style, each of the presented 49 works is headed by a description from just a few lines to over a page long followed by illustrations from one to several depending on work's scope. All of 300 (271) only B&W (some multi-picture) illustrations - many of them technical (plans, sections, sketches, elevations, etc.), but also B&W photos of a good quality - are well balanced, superbly crisp and perfectly legible. On several pages at the end, there are: a biography, selected bibliography, list of works, etc. Like all from the Studio Paperback series, the book is solid among architectural monographs even of a bigger size. Similar to smaller books from the Works and Projects series published by Gustavo Gili (GG) in English and Spanish.
