Carol Saboya is the embodiment of the modern bossa nova singer. She has a lovely, light, expressive voice, and her choice of songs is impeccable. My particular favorites on this CD are the beautiful covers of "Seu Encanto" (known in English as "The Face I Love") and "Sa Marina" (made popular in the '60s as "Pretty World" by Sergio Mendes and Brasil '65). The whole thing is wonderful, though, with beautiful orchestrations buoying Ms. Saboya's clear, ethereal vocals. If you love Bebel Gilberto and Rosa Passos, you'll love Saboya.

5.0 out of 5 stars 10 stars for Carol!!!!!!!!!!!!, February 7, 2006

This, her 6th album is a super winner............
1) The song selections (songs from Roberto Menescal, Marcos & Paulo Sergio Valle, Joao Donato, Antonio Carlos Jobim & Vinicius de Moares, some of her own, and especially that super hit by her father Antonio Adolfo -Sa Marina-, a song that was immortalized by Wilson Simonal)
*** Here we also have the opportunity to listen to Ricardo Silveira playing mostly "Violao" Acoustic Guitar a-la Bossa Nova, which is very rare and awesome,
2) the arrangements,
3) the performance (her voice is among the best among Brazilian singers),
4) the guests: Brazilian Jazz monsters Ricardo Silveria on guitars, Luiz Avellar on keyboards and pianos, Os Cariocas on a couple of songs, Paulo Guimaraes on flutes, Jorge Helder on bass, Gabriel Grossi on harmonica, etc.,
everything in this album is fantastic.
If you love Bossa Nova, Brazilian Jazz, or just wonderful music, this is a must for you.

This recording is one of two that Carol Saboya made for Japanese JVC's Aosis label (the other is entitled Bossa Nova). Unfortunately, neither of them has been released in the U.S. That's a shame, because they're terrific recordings. Recorded in Brazil with top-flight Brazilian musicians, most notably Luiz Avellar who plays piano and did most of the arrangements, it's a lavishly-produced affair with full orchestra. Saboya's singing is gorgeous, with intonation, phrasing, and feeling that put her at the top of the list of singers in this genre. The performances, arrangements, and production are faultless throughout. This is a recording that I've listened to over and over and still haven't got tired of. Sublime.
