5.0 out of 5 stars The Horse Buriers, March 23, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Nova: Ice Mummies Siberian Ice Maiden [VHS] (VHS Tape)
In 1993, Natalya Polosmak braved the high Altai Mountains to unearth a female mummy subsequently named Leti. The Russian scientist thereby acquainted the world with the artistic and horse-raising accomplishments of the scarcely known Pazyryk culture of southern Siberia. SIBERIAN ICE MAIDEN shows the breathtakingly daunting environment in which this high-altitude archaeology takes place and follows the scientific team through the challenges of preserving Leti; her beautifully crafted felt, silk and wool clothing; and her underground tomb's artifacts. The video works particularly well with Janet Buell's ANCIENT HORSEMEN OF SIBERIA and with the other Nova videos on FROZEN IN HEAVEN, MYSTERIOUS MUMMIES OF CHINA and RETURN OF THE ICEMAN.
