The band slog on without ravey Davey Moore and what a slog it isn't. This is a really superior album with not a single dud track. A much more cohesive album than Sirena and as good if not, in some ways, better than the first.
It's interesting to compare this album with Davey Moore's solo album given that Moore wrote all of Cousteau's previous material. I have both albums and this one is streets ahead of Mr Moore's effort.
Well done Cousteau!

The first time I listened to "Nova Scotia," I was initially a little let down in that I had waited three years to hear again from Cousteau and was expecting that usual Cousteau sound. I went into listening to it with the expectation that it couldn't be good without the contributions of Davy Ray Moor. But I have listened to it many times since then, and the one point I missed in the beginning is that this is actually a sign of evolution for them, they have lost their founder and key song writer and still managed to perservere with their own distinctive new take on the original sound. They had struggled for years to get this album signed and realeased, for a while even changed the band name to Moreau. I think it was a great move for them to keep the name Cousteau, just because they lost one of their most important members doesn't mean the band is lost, the show must go on. And it has, much better than you could have imagined. Liam still sounds great and is so distinctive and immediately recognizable vocally, and you can hear echos of that moody sound so attributed to Cousteau in the brilliant musical work of Robin Brown and Joe Peet. Yet this album is so much more young and edgy than the original sound of Cousteau, much more modern with rock and roll undertones. The tracks are all good, though it was tough for me to tell that at first because I immediately was just comparing and contrasting the songs to their earlier two albums. The main thing is you can't compare it to Cousteau's earlier albums, which reflected the work of a songwriter who is completely not involved in this latest album. The sound is totally different, the songs are composed by different songwriters, so it has to be evaluated at face value, not compared to someone else's work. It also forces you to recognize and value the great versitility and talent of the three key members, Liam, Joe and Robin, which wasn't as immediately apparent before. And once you can see it for what it is you can truly appreciate it. This is a very fine album, a joy to listen to over and over again. Great respect for Cousteau for not throwing in the towel.

This album took me 3 years to buy, mainly because it was'nt available (readily,anyway)in Australia. I just presumed that it probably was'nt up to scratch.Eventually I saw the light! How wrong one can be? How many times can you listen to an album? The 3 Cousteau albums...every track, so good, every album,so good. Why are they not household names?? Moreau,Cousteau....Who cares! Brilliant.
