Product Description

Editorial Review

Although parents can't realistically expect to eliminate all of the harmful organisms that live inside the home, sanitizing the objects that baby handles with the greatest frequency can help reduce baby's exposure to some of the most common germs. The Germ Doctor nursery sanitizer is designed to make that process fast and convenient, using a dry heat treatment and a one-step process to sanitize any number of small objects that baby might want to put inside her mouth. The all-plastic unit has a wide sanitizing chamber that can be removed for easy cleaning, along with a lightweight plastic lid that sits on top. Once it has been loaded, a simple push of a button will activate the sanitizer, which completes its cycle in approximately 21 minutes. The sanitizer plugs directly into any electrical wall outlet and no batteries are required for operation. --Chris Burns

5.0 out of 5 stars Real good invention!, September 7, 2001

The Germ doctor was something I saw in magazines and thought if it was a waste of money. So I tried it and it has definetly been a keeper. I use it about once every two days. It works great and I love knowing the fact that everything my baby touches and sticks in her mouth are steralized. I think everyone should own one. We all know germs are everywhere, using this helps me know I've eliminated quite a few.

5.0 out of 5 stars Offers mom peace of mind, February 12, 2002
This review is from: 2000 Novalabs, LLC. Germ Doctor Sanitizer Model#NPS-1 (Electronics)
The Germ Doctor stays on my counter and I regularly toss in my daughter's belongings to provide an extra cleaning step. When the dog gets a toy or a pacifier rolls under the couch, I feel confident those germs aren't getting into her mouth. She gets enough germs on her own...why add to it? And when she was recently sick I would rotate her toys and pacifiers in the Germ Doctor so she wouldn't be reinfecting herself with the same germs. I haven't found it to get too hot or melt any of the items I have placed in it and it's a lot easier than boiling or running another load of laundry. It is a no-brainer sanitizer that gives me peace of mind.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fine product, within reason, November 19, 2001
This review is from: 2000 Novalabs, LLC. Germ Doctor Sanitizer Model#NPS-1 (Electronics)
I've used the sanitizer every day for a few weeks now and I find it to be very useful for pacifiers, nipples, and other small items that come in contact with the child's mouth and hands. There are a few limitations associated with this product that you should of know before purchasing.

First, this is a sanitizer, not a sterilizer. A minor distinction, but one nonetheless.

Second, items must be completely dry before putting them in the sanitizer. So, they should be somewhat clean as well. This isn't as restrictive a requirement as it might seem. This effectively means that the ideal use for the sanitizer is for people who frequently wash multiple items in hot soapy water, then leave them to air dry before returning them to use. In this case the sanitizer is a nice final step before the items wind up near baby's mouth. If you're looking for a quick way to clean up a sticky toy or item, your best bet is still to stick it in boiling water for two minutes. And if you can't boil it in water, you probably don't want it near the kid's mouth anyway.

Thirdly, the sanitizer could melt some less than robust items. In the course of sanitizing, the air temperature reaches a level that is hot enoughg to kill germs, but still lower than the boiling point of water. Look at it this way: if this ruins an item, then you've never stuck it in boiling water before either. If you can't live without an item that can't be stuck in boiling water without melting it, I hope your baby enjoys the taste of Listerine, because that's what it will take to kill the germs.

Overall, a nice product!
