I have a dog I adopted from Golden Retriever Rescue. He was known to have serious and constant allergies when I adopted him. I immediately put him on benadryl, which helped significantly. This was in Aug 2007. Over that winter, he did fine. When summer 2008 came, he needed not only an increase in his benadryl dose, but also monthly cortisone shots.

This spring, I talked to my vet about this. She suggested putting him onto Clemastine Fumarate (Tavist) instead of benadryl. He has done fabulously well. His allergies always start getting bad as soon as it stops freezing over night, then get even worse as plants start blooming and summer is in full swing. Well, it's July 2009, and he still hasn't needed a cortisone shot. This is a huge benefit for his future health, since cortisone has significant long-term detrimental effects. And of course it's good for his short term quality of life because he's itch free!

Furthermore, finding generic Clemastine Fumarate online has saved me a bundle. If you decide to buy this product, look for a good price. Amazon has the best price I can find. Other sites have it available, but for as much as 3 times the price on Amazon.

In my area, both Tavist and its store-brand generic versions are no longer available in major drugstores or big-box retailers. This is now where I get the clemastine fumarate that I take nearly every day for respiratory allergies, at a price comparable to that at the discount stores where I used to get it.

My dog is 8 years old and he has a skin allergy problem. It happened at least 3 times during the last 2 years. It spreaded all over the body except the head. There are a couple of things we did to prevent it from occuring. We changed his diet by removing any beef in it. Instead we give him turkey. We also changed the dry food to something that will help his skin allergy. Finally we give him 2 pills a day. I am gald I found this generic drug otherwise it will cost us a lot of money as you know the Vets charge you quite a bit.

I've used this on my dog for several years now. It helps relieve his skin allergies and seems to work fairly well, not great, but he does seem to get some short-term relief when he is on these.

I've always been able to buy this on Amazon or eBay for around $13 - $15 for 100 1.34mg tabs. Now all the sudden the price is jacked up everywhere to well over $25 for the same amount, a 100% price increase! I'm currently looking for an alternative to try as I'm not going to pay these ridiculous prices.

UPDATE: 9-Feb-2011 - on a whim I decided to stop by my local pharmacy and ask if they could order this for me and if so how much, to my surprise they were able to easily order a 100 count bottle of the 1.34mg strength and charged me only $10! So I would suggest if you're having a hard time finding this product and/or sellers on Amazon and eBay are charging more than $15 or so for this, check with your local pharmacy and see if they can help you out.

Dog has a flea bite allergy, have tried several different antihistamines, and this one works for him. The dose is .05mg/lb every 12 hours, so for my 50lb dog, takes about 2 pills every 12 or so hours... buying them at a pharmacy gets pretty expensive so bulk is the only option.

They do make him sleepy, but considering that he would otherwise spend a few hours a day chewing on his fur, which has now become a nervous habit, they afford him some rest.

If you are looking for Tavist Allergy (not Tavist D), this is the product for you. THe price is good also.

I could only find this medicine in small quantities in the local drugstore. This medicine has been the only one that helps with my allergy. The service was quick and the price was very good. I will order more in the future.

This generic Tavist costs a fraction of what it costs in a pharmacy. Be sure to choose the product and then decide how many you need. If you choose a deal, better price for two, sometimes they come from different shippers, costing more since they come from 2 places and charge from both! Beware!

I had prompt service, and paying for the antihistamine I need every day is much less expensive than buying it at a drug store. In fact, I am about to put in for another order! BTW, my doctor told me there is nothing better than Tavist (generic or otherwise) in drying up sinus secretions.

That is good enough for me!

My wife previously used Tavist, but now she uses this tablet with the results being just a good as Tavist. It is also considerably less expensive, all in all, she is very satisfied.
