Product Description

INDICATIONS: How The Patch Can Help You Quit Smoking and Your Body When you smoke a cigarette, nicotine reaches your brain in just seconds after each puff. Your brain and body get used to functioning with a certain level of nicotine. Your nicotine level drops dramatically after your last cigarette, and then you begin experiencing withdrawal symptoms. Common nicotine withdrawal symptoms include intense cravings for nicotine, irritability, anxiety, depression, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, difficulty sleeping and increased appetite. Physical withdrawal symptoms usually peak within 24 to 72 hours after quitting, then decline over the next several weeks. However, some smokers may experience withdrawal symptoms for several months. How the Novartis Nicotine Transdermal System Stop Smoking Aid Patch Works The patch helps you quit smoking by reducing your nicotine withdrawal symptoms. When you wear a patch, nicotine is gradually released into your bloodstream through the skin. This reduces the withdrawal symptoms that many people normally feel when they quit smoking because it replaces lower amounts of the nicotine that your body has become accustomed to from smoking. This patch program offers three patches with different dosing levels. You can move to a lower dose patch by changing the patch you wear to gradually reduce your nicotine level over an eight-week period. This program will help to reduce your nicotine withdrawal symptoms such as irritability, anxiety, restlessness, headaches, difficult sleeping and concentrating, increased appetite, and craving for nicotine.

This patch works extremely well, I believe it works just as well as the nicoderm cq. There is no burning at the patch site and itching is very slight. I usually buy the 21 mg and cut them down when I'm ready to cut back. The patch stays on and I don't have excess sticky residue when I remove the patch.

Worthless July 20, 2009
In my never ending quest to kick the habit - I started on the patches. My first run to the store I bought NicoDerm CQ STEP 1 - 3 Week Kit - 21 Clear Nicotine Patches and though those patches were gunky and incredibly itchy - it never occured to me to smoke while I was using them. I went to the store to buy my second box and they didn't have them.

So I noticed that not only did they have this brand, but they were cheaper by about ten bucks. So I bought a box. First of all the patch itself is much more attractive (a round flesh colored circle) and second of all - they don't itch or coat you in gunk.

The problem is that you might as well buy a pack of stickers and cover yourself with them. There is NO nicotine relief to be felt in these patches. I don't know if in their attempt to make the patch more comfortable they prevented the nicotine from entering your system or what - but they don't work. At all. In fact I think I've smoked MORE since sticking these stupid things on. I'll be back to the nicoderm next week when they get them in the local store. Those actually helped with the cravings.
