Remember this is 64 buttons not 64 pads

I seem to run into a lot of people who get the idea that the launchpad has pads, and each time i have to let them know they are buttons. They do have a bit of velocity sensitivity to them but regardless you have to add a bit of actuation pressure to get the clip to launch. In my experience it has worked flawlessly the buttons are so smooth you can run your finger up and down them in rows or columns at a time.

The launchpad also maps with FL Studio now apart from Ableton, to launch clips and even play instruments although it isn't the best experience to try to play piano with buttons. Included is a few stickers that you can put over the launchpad to transform it into an FL studio version rather than Ableton version.

The loops it comes with aren't that great in my opinion, I'm pretty sure their main purpose was simply to teach you to launch your first clip.

Under every pad are 3 LEDs Green, Yellow, and Red. The green shines on it's own, the yellow and the red LED shine together for the amber color and the red also works on it's own for recording clips among other things.

Im not Not tech savy at all, but had a blast using this with my son. We created a tune together. He uses this in conjunction with his ableton music software

I have played with launchpads before and I strongly prefer this one. Very pleased with this purchase. It has a great feel to it and feels sturdy. It's a little cramped if you are used to drum pads or dj controllers, but it's a very powerful clip launcher. The free downloads that come with it are also very powerful, and you can find mappings online for just about every DAW/dj software (that allow for midi mappings) because it really does have the same functionality as the launhpad s. The user mode is not very intuitive, but there are ways around this in ableton. I'm sure I will be learning how to us this for a long time to come, but it's small enough that I can take it with me seriously anywhere. Now I just need an iPad to usb plug.

Very pleased and I highly recommend it.

Launchpad is an almost mandatory purchase for use with Ableton Live and the Mini is an affordable foot in the door. If you buy one of these and are a Live user, do yourself a favor and google Launchpad95 (a free Ableton Live remote script), install it and use it. In addition to the default Launchpad features, it adds playable scales mode similar to Ableton Push and some step sequencing functionality.

I am a Launchpad user and I used to carry my Launchpad whenever I would go out traveling, either to
use it with Live or with the iPad app. Then I saw this compact version, gave it a try and definitely love it.
portable, lightweight, works with both iPad and Live, I dont notice within my utilization of the item that there
is any difference with it's "big bro", yet this mini version is amazing to throw in the backpack.

Great way to start your career!

Very simple to use and probably the easiest and cheapest way to get your DJ career started. The only thing I don't like is it never mentions anything about where you can get your own sounds instead of the default ones. I did find from other youtube videos that people use "Beatport". They have virtually every sound you can think of so if you ever need them I would go there.

Great little controller

The build quality, while plastic and rubber- still feels very sturdy.
The pads which have a small cutout near the center so you can find the 4 pad "segments" make it handy for bashing without having to look directly at the unit. They have a good reaction time, a nice bounce and feel like they could take a decent beating.
The compactness of the unit is very nice, and I dont just mean the smallness of the size, I mean it feels like the components are sandwiched into the case very nicely and is compact like a brick. I would not want to have to disassemble it.
Worked out of the box. Set up MIDI-wise very much like a keyboard by default, in fact if you were daft enough you could use this as a keyboard. In a pinch you could easily use it to lay down some basslines or whatever. Plugged into my generic (and also tried on official CCK) Camera Connection Kit and it worked like a champ on my iOS 6.1.3 iPad2 and the miscellaneous apps I tried it with. I am looking forward to doing some serious bashing with this unit. I like it a lot so far. It was what I was expecting. And the size is a very good size, anything else would be TOO BIG. It is just the right size for my situation where I am often cramped with gear and detritus all about.
