Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Like the author’s recent bios of Steve McQueen and Michael Douglas, this one makes no attempt to be the definitive life of its subject. Instead, the text relies heavily on previously published interviews with and writings about Nicholson, supplemented by the author’s interviews with people who know or have written about the actor. The result is a competently (but never excitingly or engagingly) written book that’s full of facts but lacking any real insight. Is it a bad book? No, and readers looking for a straightforward recitation of Nicholson’s life and career could do worse. On the other hand, those looking for analysis or lively storytelling may want to keep looking. Serviceable only. --David Pitt

It is such a fascinating book to read the reactions and feelings of so many people from all walks of life and from different countries, not just America. Much time and effort certainly went into obtaining and compiling these responses. It is one book that you will certainly appreciate as it truly represents the thoughts of so many people from such a sad time in our history with the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22nd, 1963.

Loved this book! Highly recommend. The writer has been compiling the public's reactions to Kennedy's assassination for years and has finally turned it into a booK!

Reading these letters is so fascinating. President Kennedy was assassinated before my birth, however, after reading the book, it seems that "Time Stood Still". Letters are so seldomly written, much less responded to. What a historical gem to have compiled in one book. I love that they are authentic! Thank you for sharing.
