I read this book before putting it on the shelf in my middle school/high school library. The account of November Nelson's teenage pregnancy paints a realistic picture of the difficulties associated with mother/daughter relationships and the dangers assoicated with teenage pregnancy. All of the characters, except Josh, return from the book, The Battle of Jericho, and this community of young people bond together to recover from Josh's death.

During her pregnancy November faces the physical discomforts, the emotional trauma, the legal problems, and the social problems brought about by the unplanned event in her life. She matures somewhat throughout the book and realizes that her life will become more difficult as she faces raising a child with possible disabilities.

I recommend this book to high school students. It is an easy read and Sharon Draper is a wonderful author who takes on a teenage voice in her books with great success.

In this sequel to The Battle of Jericho, November Nelson and Jericho Prescott deal with the loss of Josh Prescott in their own ways. But although November has lost a boyfriend and Jericho has lost a cousin, who was more like a brother, Josh left a part of himself behind. During her pregnancy, November faces emotional and physical difficulties, but not without the support of her friends, Dana, Olivia and Jericho.
From morning sickness to the delivery, the author gives a detailed, realistic account of what a pregnant girl goes through. She also shows how a young man can regain his balance in life after losing his best friend.
The cover of this book caught my eye, and when I noticed it was a companion to The Battle of Jericho, I bought that one so I could read it first. After reading The Battle of Jericho, I looked forward to reading this one. I enjoyed the story, and the ending was very touching.

Format: Hardcover
In the " Battle of Jericho," Jericho is invited to pledge the Warriors of Distinction, the oldest and most exclusive club in school. He is confused right now, because as the secret iniation rites grow increasingly humiliating, it forces Jericho to make painful choices. He starts to question whether membership in the Warriors of Distinction is worth it! In " November Blues," when November Nelson loses her boyfriend, Josh, to a pledge stunt gone horribly wrong, she thinks her life can't possibly get any worse. Josh has left something behind that will change November's life forever, and now she is faced with the biggest decision she could ever imagine. What both books have in common is young people sometimes make bad decisions. What I liked about the book is the way her friends helped her out with the baby. I wouldn't change anything about the book, it was perfect! I learned that you should not have sex before college or marriage. Great books!

When I first layed eyes on this book I knew it was going to be a hit! It was going to be a book I stayed up at late at night tgp read and enjoy for hours!! i could not even eat witout picking it up and reading it!!! Sharon Draper taught me a lot about the consequences about getting pregnant at an early age and for that i am not doing any thing bad llke that! Besides the fact that this book taught me things, it was entertaining anad jept me going and the motivation was the bik itself. I wanted to see what was going ro happen next, there was never a boring part!!! i promise you this bookk will keep you going anad when it is over you will be very satisfied!! the only thing is you will be a pinch of sadness because it will be over and a book like that you will never want to put it down!!!! I picked this book up one day in a bookstore and just could not put it down for at least an hour; next thing you know, I got it a month later as a stocking stuffer. Can I say best present EVER?! I have never been interested in reading for fun because I do not like to read just to find out that I did not like the outcome of the novel, but because of the required readings of other Sharon M. Draper books, like Tears of a Tiger, I knew this had to be good!
This book unravels the reality of teen pregnancy as well as with the death of a fellow classmate. After the death of her boyfriend Josh (from a hazing accident), November discovers that she is pregnant with their child. The first issue that comes about is the reality that she is too young to care for a child and the woes of what to do overwhelm her, but things get worse as Josh’s parents are in a mad dash to retain legal custody of their grandchild, to which November and Josh’s cousin, Jericho, are not going to let happen without a fight, if at all.
Sharon M. Draper is the perfect author to have written high school stories like this one because of her ability to personify herself through a teenagers’ point of view. I like the seriousness that this book contained because it is not much different than the seriousness of occurrences that other teenagers in today’s time go through. This is a way to depict the reality of young adults and their decisions all across the board, regardless of their intelligence level and their state of living. Definitely a book that I would recommend to other people my age or younger!
