Book Description

Two field biologists from N.J. Fish & Wildlife discover a pair of waterfowl clinging to a metal cleat with twig-like growths protruding from their skulls and have traced the contagion to a common marsh grass called Phragmites. Shortly after their reporting to the CDC, the contagion has found a human host, then another and another. In less than 24 hours, Phragmites will release their seed to the world, carrying the contagion with it. The event happens quickly and is known among those who study this grass as, November Seed.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"November seed is out of this world and stretches our boundaries beyond our realm of possibilities. It is a first rate read. I look ,with much anticipation, for more work from this author."

From the Author

I have been working on my sci-fi novel Silversides for the past couple of years.  I am glad to report my first draft is complete and I am wading through the editing.  I have found the process both rewarding and frustrating, considering the first year was spent teaching myself how to write.

During the writing process, I would warm up on a small novella to practice phrases and concepts, character definition and scenes.   Then one day that warm up exercise developed into an amazing storyline of its own, so I gave it a name.  November Seed.

5.0 out of 5 stars I really liked this. June 20, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The plot of November Seed is one we've heard before but not executed in this way, not often done this well, and not this unusual. I enjoyed the story and thought the characters were believable and the action suspenseful. The ending was very satisfying leaving me wanting more. This appears to be the author's first published work but when I see a touchdown, I cheer. Great job!

Got going on this short but powerful piece and could not stop. Lots of food for the technical-minded, yet the fundamental humanistic elements dominate the finale. The ending was both a pleasant and thoughtful surprise....very inventive.
A wonderful first foray for Mr. Nadas....keep it up and please give us MORE!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! June 30, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Not the ending I was expecting at all! As an avid Stephen King reader in the late 80s and 90s, this definitely falls into his genre. Any SK lover would love this short story. Like other reviewers, also hoping you continue the story down the road! (Had to chuckle a bit about the marine/wildlife biologist surfers ;))

5.0 out of 5 stars this is some page turner! June 28, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It starts out two guys, good chemistry of characters...... I felt like I knew them....very real. Then, lots of science, very interesting. I'm familiar with that part of New Jersey so I knew the place so that was pretty cool. and then the story takes off like a freight train you're in the story and you can't get out! And then, my iPad died, on the second to last page!!! talk about a cliffhanger. Well, after powering up I finished it....very good. I would read more.....great job David.

5.0 out of 5 stars Left me wanting MORE! June 24, 2014

Format:Kindle Edition
I read November Seed in fits and starts because I wanted to read it all at once without interruption. I started it 3 times and had to put it down for various reasons. I finally got a chance to really sit down and read without interruption and was kicking myself for not being able to do it sooner.

In his first published work, Mr. Nadas has given us an interesting take on an alien agenda and a fantastical surprise ending that left me wanting more, more, more. Kudos to him! I so look forward to reading Silversides once published.

My only criticism of this book is that it was so short! I was wanting to know more about the characters as well as the seeding itself, and would happily give this book the long read that it deserves. I could easily see this as a screenplay using this novella as the first chapter into a really fascinating land of "what happens after" November.

This was so fast! I didn't want it to end. I liked the characters and the fact that they all stuck together. Hopefully this was an experiment and everyone will come back.

5.0 out of 5 stars run, don't walk towards November Seed June 21, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I suppose I could be coy and suggest that you run to get away from the grey powder and the twigs, but I'll get right to the point here: waste no time and BUY THIS SENSATIONAL STORY. I am not a seasoned sci fi reader, so I am ill-qualified to compare it to others in the genre. However, as an experienced short story reader, I can state with confidence that you'll not be able to put this story down. David Nadas obviously has a more than glancing grasp of science and biology, and the sprinkling of highly technical terminology only served to fuel my interest. I found the situations presented in the story highly believable - particularly the observations of human nature in crisis situations - and the progression of events entirely logical. The final page was a wonderful amalgam of science, human interest, sci fi, religion, and gave the reader hope after a hopeless situation has occured. I am looking forward to seeing more from this wonderful new writer.

More About the Author

David Nadas began his profession as a marine biologist studying biological systems with a focus on marine algae (seaweed). It was at Mystic Marinelife Aquarium in Connecticut, while tasked to search through reams of paper filings and determine the patterns of food consumption of one of their Alaskan fur seals named, number 2 (aka, the daemon), David realized the impact computer technology would have on the world to automate and streamline this task and every task like it. David returned to postgraduate training in computer programming and system network engineering, where he later forged an impressive career in Information Technology in New York City.

Having been a voracious reader, David stopped reading one day, disappointed in how the last several authors ended their stories. He made a promise to himself that he would never read another book until he published one with a killer ending. His debut novella, November Seed, was a page-turner and lived up to that promise.
