I am 10 years old. I was looking around a Book store when I saw this beautiful book. I read it with my mom, we found it extremely interesting and amazing. We bought it and we love it. I have learned a lot from this book. This book is very interesting. It is very spiritual. My favorite chapter is about Saint Michael the Archangel. There are 36 Saints, angels and prayers to the madonna. Great job on the book.

I'm SO glad I bought this book! The art work is beautiful, the prayers are simple and eloquent and the brief biographies of the saints as well as the descriptions of the angels are inspiring. I'm particularly pleased that my all time favorite saint, Saint Rita of Cascia is included in the line up of saints. The book is a quick read, if reading is all you want to do with it, but I find myself returning again and again to look at the pictures, do a quick meditation on a Saint or angel or to just say a short prayer, thanking God for giving us all these wonderful guides. I'm pretty sure that God will abundantly bless the authors of this book.

This book is breathtaking in its sheer beauty. It was given to me by a friend who noticed it in the "spiritual section" of a large bookstore, but I would definitely have put it in "Noteworthy New Releases" and the "Art Section". It's beautiful to the eye, not only for its images of the Personas, but also for its overall design-- the whole impact is that of well-rounded beauty. The writing also excels. Each accompanying article flows delightfully and is full of interesting and inspiring information. I feel the need to caution, that this is not a book only for Catholics. Its tone and intent of eclectic spirituality is distinctly put forth in the introduction and well executed throughout. It will be a joy to anyone with an eye for beauty, any degree of spiritual bent,and/or the slightest inkling or hope of the the remotest possiblity of the potentiality for a miracle.

This book is so beautiful to look at, to touch, to read and reap. I have witnessed the Power or Prayer and of these Grace filled Novenas. God Bless the Angels and the Saints who give Glory to God when we ask for their intercession. We should be praying constantly; this book gets us ever closer to our goal, our God.

I've been an Amazon customer for years and have never felt compelled to write a review until now. I bought the book to learn more about St. Jude's novena and found myself completely immersed in reading all of the other saints' biographies. It is beautifully illustrated, well written and well organized. A must have for every library.

Authors Barbara Calamari and Sandra DiPasqua give readers another invaluable resource for saintly intercession, prayer and personal edification with The Novena Book: The Power of Prayer (Penguin Studio, hardcover, 176 pages). As with the previous Calamari/DiPasqua books I've reviewed, The Novena Book combines informative and readable text with stunningly beautifully illustrations in a manner few other manuscripts can match. Their works grace my living room both because they are a treat to the eyes of my visitors and because I turn to them frequently for my own spiritual and educational formation.

In The Novena Book: The Power of Prayer Calamari and DiPasqua take a comprehensive look at the concept of Novenas. The introduction highlights the powerful nature of this prayer format. At the heart of the book is a lengthy series of chapters on Saints, Angels, the Madonna, and the Divinity. Each section on the saints provides a brief biographical or informative statement, an illustration, and a Novena. Rounding out the volume are additional prayer resources and a helpful topical index. The book features Novenas to several well known saints and to a few who make become your new favorites. I'm looking forward to sharing Novenas with my sons as we anticipate the rapid approach of the holiday season. The Novena Book: The Power of Prayer is the type of book you'll want to give as a gift, but be sure to purchase a copy of this treasure for your own spiritual library.

I recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more about the saints lives or the different visions of Mary that have appeared, as well as a way to pray to them. I just purchased this and can't put it down. The prayers are wonderful.

This concise, yet varied collection of Novena prayers provides the reader with an opportunity for spiritual growth through the unique prayer experience of devotional petitions. With an open mind and sincere heart even the curious will experience a change in prayer life that goes beyond the specific Novena selected. The authors have presented a succint volume to be treasured, with beautiful illustrations and clear instructions. This book can be the beginning of a powerful and personal relationship with God through prayer.

The authors have done a wonderful job taking the mystery out of Novenas and prayers. This book would make a wonderful gift for those searching for spirituality. The prayers work, I know this from personal experience. I've purchase several copies to give as gifts this coming Christmas.

This book is really great! I myself am a Catholic and there are many holy cards with very beautiful pictures and maybe prayers on the back...I loved those, and this book is exactly like those cards, really beautiful drawings and prayers but with something more!

The authors did a great job. They did not simply collect these powerful prayers and compile them in this book. They wrote very well on each of saints, angels, each of the different faces of the Madonna and the Divine.

Besides the prayers the stories are great and inspirational too. I think every Catholic should have this and even if you're not a Catholic it's great too, inspirational and provides some comfort for those in grief too, especially The Mother of Sorrows. As the authors wrote(or typed): "The saints are there to help you."--From the introduction.
