Solid Release from the Novo Series, November 28, 2003

The Novo series is based off of a European (French, I believe) radio station. They have cd's and releases which feature everything from chill, to lounge to electronic to bass & beats. This one here is a more Brazilian flavored release.
It's not too shabby, either. You have some great releases included along with a few from artists that you wouldn't have thought of. Tom Ze, DJ Dolores, Fernanda Abreu, Marcos Valle, Nouvelle, Zuco 103, Bebel Gilberto, Cibelle and many many others feature in a rather impressive line-up of Brazilian musicians. Top cuts to me were the Marcos Valle track, DJ Dolores grindy track, Cibelle's song and Nouvelle's loungish cut.
Definitely recommend this CD. While some songs didn't really get me, this CD certainly gets an A in effort and diversity. It's not as much Euro infused as a Brazilectro, isn't as old school/laid back as "Chill Brazil", but isn't as hard core Brazil as... well, the top 40 Brazil cuts(like Carlinhos Brown's, or Paula Lima or Daude's new cd's).
