4.0 out of 5 stars Good CD to have!
I am glad that some of my new favorite songs are on the same CD. It was a good buy and I listen to it all the time.

Now That's What I Call Music! Is back yet again with another CD of songs played heavily on radio and hit the most "buy now" buttons on iTunes, which of course defines them as hits. Or are they? Two questions come up when looking at the 25th edition's tracklist. First, is Akon the most popular hook artist out right now? And secondly, more like a statement, why is the tracklist full of commerical hip-hop artists? The 25th edition proves a fair set of songs for the average NOW buyer. Sure, we have hot hits from Avril Lavigne, Gwen Stefani, P!nk, and Justin Timberlake. We have hip-hop tracks from commerical acts Lloyd, T-Pain, Huey, and Bow Wow, along with mainstays Bone Thugs N Harmony and R&B artists Elliott Yamin and Ne-Yo in the mix. Then the pop-rockers ranging from huge acts Kelly Clarkson and Fall Out Boy to newcomers Boys Like Girls. And for 24 lacking the token country track, you now have both Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban stringing the violins and guitars. Therefore, the disc offers a fair selection, but quite a bit too many newcomers and feels more like a place to put your music to promotion then adding what really is hot. Too often, the newcomers take potiental spots from hot current artists, prime examples being Timbaland, Rihanna, Maroon 5, and especially summer flirt Sean Kingston. And that makes a thought that the disc is more suited to the young teens, as dance craze hip-hop artists such as T-Pain, Huey, and Mims get most of the spotlight. Aside from the hits, the tracklist may feel too empty to the older consumer. Still, Now That's What I Call Music! 25 offers a fair enough amount of hits and shouldn't disappoint too many who venture it, especially for a more summer suited disc, but some earlier editions are more versatile in their selections. 3 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Flashback 2007, March 2, 2011
By
This review is from: Now 25 (Audio CD)
This is a good respresentation of music in the spring/early summer of 2007. There are some really good hits and then there are some (the rap songs) that leave you wondering "Why are they on here?"

Fall Out Boy - Thnks Fr Th Mmrs: This was an overplayed song on the radio but it is still a good song. A

Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend: This is a good song even though it was clouded in debate on whether she ripped it off or not from another bad. Loses half a grade for being edited. A-

Gwen Stefani f/ Akon - The Sweet Escape: Another hit by Gwen! A+

P!nk - U + Ur Hand: This was a good song but loses half a grade for being edited. A-

Fergie - Glamorous: Another good hit by Fergie! A

Beyonce f/ Shakira - Beautiful Liar: This is a good song by the duo they should do more songs together. A

Justin Timberlake - Summer Love: Was overplayed on the radio but not bad. B+

Ne-Yo - Because Of You: This was a good song by him. A-

T-Pain f/ Yung Joc - Buy You A Drink: It was a good song not great but listenable. B

Lloyd - Get It Shawty: No I don't get it! F

Huey - Pop, Lock, and Drop it: More like drop, run, get out! F

Mims - Like This: Nope I don't like this. F

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony f/ Akon - I Tried: I tried forgetting this song. F

Bow Wow f/ T-Pain & Johnta Austin - Outta My System: Can't wait to get you out of my system. F

Kelly Clarkson - Never Again: This is when Kelly tried going her own way. It was much darker than her previous work but not her best work. B-

Boys Like Girls - The Great Escape: This was a good song. B+

Keith Urban - I Told You So: Not a big country fan and his songs are either hit or miss for me. F

Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats: She is an exception to me not liking country and this is a good song by her. A

Elliott Yamin - Wait For You: This is a good song by him! A+

Daughtry - Home: Not my favorite song by him but still a hit and a good way to close the CD. B+

5.0 out of 5 stars Good product, September 16, 2007
By
This review is from: Now 25 (Audio CD)
Not my type of music, but my daughter loves it. These songs have the expletives removed so the congruitity of the song is not damaged. An easy (and cheap) way to get all the hits on one CD. Cheaper than iTunes.

5.0 out of 5 stars now 25, September 9, 2007
This review is from: Now 25 (Audio CD)
1. Fall Out Boy- Thnks Fr Th Mmrs: this song has no vowels lol. it is a little overplayed, but i like it. 4/5

2. Avril Lavigne- Girlfriend- this song is flippin' awesome! but i heard that she had to go to court for ripping off someone's "I wanna be your boyfriend". 5/5

3. Gwen Stefani f/ Akon- The Sweet Escape: the best song ever. enough said. 100000000/5

4. P!nk- U + Ur Hand: i liked this song when it came out, but it is getting a little overplayed and it gets REALLY annoying!!! 2/5

5. Fergie- Glamorous: one of her best songs. notice how each one of her singles gets less obnoxious? london bridge was highly obnoxious, fergalicious was pretty obnoxious, glamorous is barely obnoxious, big girls don't cry is not even obnoxious. don't get me wrong, i love all four of them, but what i mean to say is that each song gets better and better. 5/5

6. Beyonce f/ Shakira- Beautiful Liar: Finally! this song is available so i don't have to re-buy her album. it is a great song, but i still think shakira sounds better than beyonce. 5/5

7. Justin Timberlake- Summer Love: this song is a little overplayed, but what the heck! i love it! 5/5

8. Ne-Yo- Because Of You: i don't really like this song. it has kind of a weird melody. 2/5

9. T-Pain f/ Yung Joc- Buy You A Drink: good song, but it got old fast, like most hip-hop does, except for "party like a rockstar" by shop boyz. i absolutely love it. i hope it's on the next now. 3/5

10. Lloyd- Get It Shawty: what's this???? ?/5

11. Huey- Pop, Lock, and Drop it: pretty good for a rap song. it's pretty catchy. 4/5

12. Mims- Like This: what's this???? ?/5

13. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony f/ Akon- I Tried: hate this song! -3/5

14. Bow Wow f/ T-Pain & Johnta Austin: what's this???? ?/5

15. Kelly Clarkson- love this song! why did it have to flop? i think her producers are the ones that flopped it. her producers are so mean to her. they're making her lose weight, then they canceled her tour, now this? be nice to her! 5/5

16. Boys Like Girls- The Great escape: i'd rather have a sweet escape than a great escape. never heard the song. ?/5

17. Keith Urban- I Told You So: don't really like country, but i guess this song's okay. 2/5

18. Before He Cheats- LOVE Carrie Underwood, but this song is scratched on my copy of now 25. what's up with that? 5/5

19. Elliot Yamin- Wait For You: One American Idol finalist we never would have expected to have a hit. 5/5

20. Daughtry- Home: LOVE Chris Daughtry! i voted for him. i wanted hm and Katharine to be in the finale. but he's probably happy he didn't win because he's really successful now. 5/5

suggestions for now 26:

1. Sean Kingston- Beautiful Girls??? Or Me Love????
2. Gwen Stefani- 4 In The Morning
3. Justin Timberlake- Lovestoned
4. Timbaland f/ Keri Hilson- The Way I Are
