"Dish Cloths" not equal to "Dish Towels" nor "Tea Towels",
By
This review is from: Now Designs Set of 3 Waffle Dish Cloths (Kitchen)
The web page for this product is confusing and inconsistent. Perhaps someone at MMP LLC or Amazon will correct it by the time you read this. The "Product Description" section uses the term "teatowels", but also says "dishcloths" on the same line. The title and the "Product Features" section also mention dishcloths. My understanding is that "tea towels" and "dish cloths" are two different things, for differing purposes. I think of "tea towel" as a type of pretty dish towel. Does "tea towel" means something else in the UK? Another source of potential confusion is just the term "dish cloth". After reading reviews for other dish cloths, I get the impression that some people expected a "dish cloth" to be the same thing as a "dish towel". Maybe it is a term that varies in different geographic regions? My understanding of the term "dish cloth" is: a textured cloth to use in the kitchen sink, with detergent, to wash the dishes. It is not intended as a towel for drying anything. An analogy: A dish cloth is for washing dishes, as a "wash cloth" is for washing people. Some might use the term "dish rag". I hear that many people use a sponge for dish washing, instead of a dish cloth. After reading several reviews from shoppers who were surprised at the small size of other dish cloths available, I am guessing some people have never used them nor seen them. Typical "dish cloths" are square, and are much smaller than "dish towels". The typical size is similar to a washcloth or face-cloth. 13 x 13 is an OK size for a cotton dishcloth, before shrinkage. They are typically square. My mother had lots of white dish cloths, and laundered them with bleach. She did not use sponges in the kitchen. At a time when she had no microwave nor dishwashing machine, she believed sponges were difficult to get sanitary enough after use.

These towels were a gift for a family member. They came in a very cheap cardboard box and the towels are worthless. It looks like a cute gift, however, it was an embarrassment once we saw what it was. I would never buy them again.

I bought these for my mom as part of her stocking stuffer. She loves them, however, I think they are a tad too small. I know I know, the measurements are in the description.. They do the job and the recipient was happy. I give it four because whenever I use them I feel like they hardly soak up before I can finish drying the dishes.
