Saw Palmetto is excellent for men of all ages, since it is not only benefitial for the prostate but improves significantly males stamina. I saw results within a week and daily dose of two pills taken in the evening. For that alone it's worth taking it.

I have been taking this for years, on a smaller dosage, just once pill a day since I am in the younger 30's. I do notice a slightly lower libido which is good for me since I take muscle building supplements and estrogen blockers making my libido more like that of a 20 year old male. Recently I took way too much test booster and doubled up on saw palmetto doses to get my prostate swelling back down quickly, a couple days later I don't have to go the the restroom every 15 minutes, no burning either. No male wants prostate cancer unfortunately by age 60 there is an 80% chance you are going to get cancer there anyway, starting early to take better care of your prostate is just good common sense.

There are over 20 well controlled studies published concerning the uses and effects of Saw Palmetto and Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) or swollen prostate gland.

The encapsulated Saw Palmetto berries have no guaranteed potency. ProstActive is Nature's Way standardized extract of Saw Palmetto berries. This product is commonly called Saw Palmetto or Saw Palmetto extract.

3-----*- How do the encapsulated berries compare with ProstActive Saw Palmetto?

Saw Palmetto berries in the whole form contain approximately 1%-2% oil or active ingredient. This oil contains fatty acids and sterols that have been closely studied and have shown positive results. The berries are dried and milled and then encapsulated.

MY TAKE ON THIS: FYI - "NATURE'S WAY" & "NOW" ARE MY FAVORITE BRANDS

Saw Palmetto really needs to be standardized for at least 85% fatty acids. All of the research, that has indictated its use, to be beneficial, has come from saw palmetto standardized from 85-95% fatty acids. Doses of 3-8% fatty acids simply have little or no therapeutic value, just like Hawthorn that is not standardized. Also, like Hawthorn, Saw Palmetto is used for the treatment of a serious ailment, BPH [Benign prostatic hyperplasia], and therefore should be treated with precision and with the care of a qualified physician.

I should say that I purchase most of my herbal and supplemental products from Swanson, but not this one, and for the reasons stated above.

SAM'S CLUB actually carries a standardized product [85% fatty acids] and you get 350 softgels for under $11.! If price is not your biggest concern, consider either "Nature's Way" or "Now" standardized Saw Palmetto. Swanson sells the "Nature's Way" product and other vendors here at Amazon carry the "Now" brand as well.
