From the Publisher

Although Jessica and Ian Clarke have been married seven years, they insist the thrill and excitement haven't dimmed. At Jessica's urging, Ian has quit his advertising job to become a struggling writer, and she supports him with her successful San Francisco boutique.

Ian's financial dependence on Jessica upsets him more than he admits, and in a moment of bored malaise, Ian's first casual indiscretion will create a nightmare that threatens everything Jessica and Ian have carefully built. What he does changes their lives, and them, perhaps forever, as they struggle to pay the price of his foolhardy affair.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Danielle Steel's novel if not the best, March 17, 2004
By A Customer
I have been reading Danielle Steel for at least 15 years. I believe this is one of her best. It is about a woman who is married to the perfect man, who happens to be a writer. However, he is blamed for a crime and taken away to jail. The wife is left to deal with him not being there. It has been a while since I have read this but I think at some point they separate. However, with everything she goes through she becomes stronger and learns to lean on herself. With this new found independence will she go on alone or will she find her way back to her husband? Read and find out!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing,Predictable, December 19, 2000
By A Customer
Started out I had SO much in common with Jessica, come to find out what a female "Wimp" she is, I could NOT relate to her. After Ians affair, and during his JAIL stay, Jessica had a chance to be with an exciting Jet-Set man, who seemed perfect for her. But like an idiot, she can't stop thinking of Ian, then the end of the story is quite predictable. I can't respect a character as stupid and wimpy as Jessica, I'm used to reading about strong women who have their head together. Not the kind who kiss up to men who have strongly betrayed them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Story of a Marriage, December 30, 2003
This is a great story of a marriage. It's more than that though, Steel worked in their lives & careers in perfectly. It all fit. This is one of her books that also has a bit of suspense to it, which adds to its greatness. If you're looking to read a classic D. Steel book- this is a perfect one to pick up!
