One of the best Danielle Steel's novel if not the best,
By A Customer
This review is from: Now and Forever (Mass Market Paperback)
I have been reading Danielle Steel for at least 15 years. I believe this is one of her best. It is about a woman who is married to the perfect man, who happens to be a writer. However, he is blamed for a crime and taken away to jail. The wife is left to deal with him not being there. It has been a while since I have read this but I think at some point they separate. However, with everything she goes through she becomes stronger and learns to lean on herself. With this new found independence will she go on alone or will she find her way back to her husband? Read and find out!!

Disappointing,Predictable,
By A Customer
This review is from: Now and Forever (Mass Market Paperback)
Started out I had SO much in common with Jessica, come to find out what a female "Wimp" she is, I could NOT relate to her. After Ians affair, and during his JAIL stay, Jessica had a chance to be with an exciting Jet-Set man, who seemed perfect for her. But like an idiot, she can't stop thinking of Ian, then the end of the story is quite predictable. I can't respect a character as stupid and wimpy as Jessica, I'm used to reading about strong women who have their head together. Not the kind who kiss up to men who have strongly betrayed them.

Story of a Marriage,
By Theresa W (mi, usa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Now and Forever (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a great story of a marriage. It's more than that though, Steel worked in their lives & careers in perfectly. It all fit. This is one of her books that also has a bit of suspense to it, which adds to its greatness. If you're looking to read a classic D. Steel book- this is a perfect one to pick up!

A very good read,

I couldnt put this book down, it was wonderful.Jessica and Ian clarke, are very much in love, but he makes the mistake of sleeping with another woman while his wife is out on business, and then later, the woman Ian slept with accuses him of rape. As Jessica knows that he was sleeping around on her, she still is with him at his side throughout it all, and then when he gets sent to prison, it shows how she is dealing with her own emotions. It is such a good book, and i couldnt stop reading it. I would stay awake way into the night trying to read a few more chapters. It is very good and I reccomend you reading it.

Psychotherapy at It's Best,

I loved this story of a married couple whose marriage was tested to the imp degree. There was unfaithfulness, angry, doubt, depression, distrust and other emotions felt by one or both of the main characters. Jessie had a hard time at first but decided to move forward with her life. With the help of a friend's mother, (greatest "psychotherapist" I ever saw) Jessie was able to work through the pain and suffering and made her life what she wanted it to be. Read the book. It is one of DS's older books, which in my opinion are some of her best.

A great book!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Now and Forever (Mass Market Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book. I like the fact that the characters grow and mature. In the beginning Jessica is weak and immature, clingy and dependent. Meanwhile her husband is a cheating slimeball. It seemed as though the only things keeping these two together were guilt and obligation. After some very difficult times, though, they both grow up. I was happy with the ending, too.

One mistake can cost you a lifetime of pain Ian a writer is living off his wife financially until his next book sells when he meets this intriguing woman at a cafe he loves we can all guess what happens next little does he know this will cost him his wife and his freedom. This book goes through their all the emotions of feelings of cheating and it effects it has on your realtionship in this case it helped Jessica the main character see how much she relayed on her husband and it made her stronger when he wasn't there and I loved that she got her identity back. This was a great novel

A book about a married couple dealt with unexpected problem.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Now and Forever (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is about a married couple dealt with an unexpected problem. They've been married seven
years and it seem like nothing can damage their love. Until the husband, Ian got arrested and accused for rape. He wouldn't call it rape but he
admitted that he did slept with the woman when his wife, Jessica had left town on business. Jessica supported Ian all the way, financially and emotionally. But at last, Ian had lost and had been sent to prison for 2 years. First Jessica thought she could handle it but she doesn't know
that she would feel so alone without Ian. One day
when Jessica went to visit Ian, they got into a huge fight and Jessica decided to file for divorce. She thought she did the right thing until one night she realized that she misses Ian alot and can't live without him. They made up and when Ian came out of prison, they start their new, happy life together.
I think this book is a really good book and I would recommend this book to anyone.

The Stuff Relationships Are Made Of...,
By
This review is from: Now and Forever (Mass Market Paperback)
I began my collection of seven outstanding novels written by Danielle Steel with this one - NOW AND FOREVER. This story is beautiful and well put together - I was definitely not disappointed.
Though the main characters (Ian and Jessica)were a little too 'Hollywoodish' and not as 'ordinary' as I would have preferred them to be, their lives change forever because of something that is so real and so everyday in our modern age - a time when fidelity in the marriage relationship is taken too lightly. This story deals with the possible and most extreme consequences of going against this rule. Ms. Steel also touched on some very deep issues in this novel, especially on things like emotional trauma, depression, the power of friendship, love and healing in the most distressing circumstances. If you have not picked up this novel to read, please do. It's one of Ms. Steel's best novels yet.

So aggravating!,
By
This review is from: Now and Forever (Hardcover)
This book was so irritating! The story was interesting, but the characters infuriated me. I think the problem is one that Danielle Steel tends to have in many of her books--she gives the characters flaws to make them real, but overdoes it and they're so flawed you can't stand them. Jessica was needy, clingy, and ridiculous, but that could be somewhat understood. What I didn't understand is how Ian NEVER ONCE asked her forgiveness for his adultery, and she never questioned it. I was glad he went to jail; he was a total jerk!! He was sorry for the inconvenience, for ruining their lives and sending them into bankruptcy, but never did he actually ask forgiveness for betraying her. That ruined the story for me.
The other thing that aggravated me was the rape trial. A first-year law student could have won Ian's trial. I realize it was relevant to the story, but Steel should have made the accuser's case a little more convincing, then. The stupid attorney's silly reasons for NOT putting key witnesses on the stand, making compelling arguments as to motive, etc., were terrible. What kind of a defense attorney would not do everything he could to win, if it could be done? |
