5.0 out of 5 stars Deep & Stormy, October 29, 2008

This review is from: Now It's Tomorrow (Audio CD)
Randall Bramblett's new set "Now It's Tomorrow" is a stellar work. Davis Causey's electric guitar is so alive, it could make a fly buzz. "Sun Runs" that opens the set is a terrific cut with Bramblett's vocals full of swagger, "Till the river runs back where it came from, Till the mountain falls flat, Till the ocean crawls up on the dry land, you give me something that nobody in the world can." "Let's Go" puts punch in the beat via Gerry Hansen's drums & a snarling Michael C. Steele bass line as Randall rocks out like a nouveau psychedelic, "Why don't you sit by me on this terrible ride, Maybe we can joke around together if we ever land on the other side." "Some Mean God" is another outstanding track with the churning guitars slowly stirring, "And I don't know which lie is true, but I can't turn away from you." Bramblett follows this with "Mess About It" that attacks like a psychedelic jazz storm during a rock & roll concert, "When you're burning daylight & you're almost home, little things can wind their way inside of you & your smile gets stolen by the thieving sun." It's a terrific track, albeit slightly disturbing. "Used to Rule the World" has a catchy beat & torching percussion with Bramblett's vocals as smooth as they are incendiary, "Miss South Carolina 1975, somebody stole your crown; You were sleepin' in your happy home; When you woke up baby, your life had come & gone." Bramblett's sax on the track sends the instrumental break into a jazz blast. "Visions" continues the powerful guitar attack with a George Harrison-like countermelody from Bramblett's keyboards. After two delightfully raucous tracks, "Don't Waste Your Time" & "You Better Move," Bramblett concludes the set as if looking back through the sunset flickering eyes of a dying loved one, "In the lonely world we're lost; On the angry sea we're tossed, but you have made it safe across where a life goes." While Bramblett's No More Mr. Lucky was one of my favorite CDs, "Now It's Tomorrow" is a unified set. It demonstrates complexity in the fusion of its musical elements, lyrical restlessness, and excellence of performance. I recommend scanning the lyrics from the artist's website to enhance the listening experience. This set is an utter gem, deep & stormy. Bravo!

Randall has one of the best voices still going today-You can have your Bright Eyes and Devendras. I'll take the the guy who helped shape an entire genre of American music. I just saw him on stage today and he can rock you and melt you in the same breath.Good album.

Randall and his band have done it again. Another album filled with great songs.
This guy is one of the most talented people in the buisness, a terrific musician and a great songwriter.
And his band is just top notch. I highly recommend this album.
