Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Each spread of Now I Know My 1,2,3's: Count and Match and Add with Me! by Nora Gaydos, illus. by Martin Lemelman, features one number, from one to 20 (then 50 and 100), and suggestions on the inside back cover explain to adults how to direct budding mathematicians at various levels. For instance, novices can practice writing each number with the dry-erase marker provided, while more accomplished students can use the more than 100 magnetic pieces included plus a foldout magnetic board for additional hands-on activities, such as counting by tens with magnetic red brick bars. Everything gets stored in a handy drawer, the top of which neatly fits over the book's back cover. (innovative KIDS, $16.99 ages 3-6 ISBN 1-58476-068-0; Apr.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great learning tool from Nora Gaydos, March 29, 2003

This review is from: Now I Know My 1,2,3's (Spiral-bound)
Nora Gaydos has tapped into the aspects of learning that make it fun! Hands on learning in visually stimulating colors coupled with rhyming text and a variety of projects makes this one of my 3 year old's favorites. A great restaurant activity as well as for at home, this is one that gets repeated use. Basically we love anything that Gaydos has done because we know that it will be attractive, entertaining, and educational and therefore a great bargain. For those fans of Now I Know My ABCs, this one is right there next to it. One thing I would suggest for those who take this book out of the house -- put the little pieces in a ziploc bag -- it will still fit into the tray but keeps them safe from being lost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, April 25, 2005
This review is from: Now I Know My 1,2,3's (Spiral-bound)
I bought this book for my 2-year-old for learning numbers and shapes. As with the ABC book by the same author, this book has several levels of learning. Right now we just read it for learning basic numbers and shapes, but it also teaches counting (including counting by fives and tens) as well as adding and subtracting. The only warning I have is this book has more (and smaller) pieces than the ABC one. I took out the smallest ones for the time being as they are for more advanced counting and I didn't want them to get lost. I'd follow the other reviewers advice and use a ziploc bag as well.
